So there is no view of a pool filled with gorgeous gals sipping on cocktails Reg?

Or was that on the other side of the building to where the cars were parked?

sorry to disappoint but no Chicas on banana skirts prancing around.

If any are seriousely considering coming down on the Thursday let me know ASAP as we are booking the cabins soon.

Also, a reminder that there are only 55 spots and they will go like hot cakes in a Jenny Craig meeting!!!! :woot:

The day started with a very wet track, lots of people found the grass and one lost a rear hub with the wheel still attached after mounting the over exaggerated APEX. To those who haven't been to the track with the new APEX, consider your times obsolete. No one is brave enough to mount it, even the pro's.

First time attack I can only round up a 1.24.1280 but that is due to the wet condition and someone infront who is very slow on the track except at the straights wouldn't let me pass.

After that, I ask John Boston to ride shotgun and give me some pointers. He basically corrected my entry and braking points. John also advise me to lessen the aggressiveness of my stirring and use as much of the turn and track as possible this way I can carry more speed on the turn and less understeer. He also told me to gradually lift of the brakes as lifting the foot to quick unsettles the car during entry and promotes understeer. One thing I'm still very shitty of myself is that I forgot to record the whole thing...fffarrrrkkk!!!!!

Anyway, on my Second Time Attack I managed to get some consistency and managed to cut my time too
1:21.6140
1:23.1320 - me being a traffic
1:22.9600 - me trying to catch the traffic
1:21.2500 - chasing a supercharged magna
1:22.4110
1:24.5220 - manga can't drive - only fast on the straight
1:23.2300
1:21.2380 --- :woot:

So things started heating up, the track is dry and I've decided to forget about the drive with passenger sessions and concentrate only on time attacks.
Car has about 5litre of fuel, new brakes started to bed in, massive amount of confidence and lack of sleep (3hrs night before due to alkohol) mixed with adrenalin, time to attack the track for the very last time.

1:23.5910
1:24.9310
1:23.2530
1:21.3910
1:26.5950 - fast car caught up and had to be smart and let them go so I can attack the track properly
1:20.7880
1:20.7030 --- Sorry Brett...this is the fastest I can do for now

The brakes is noisy but worked really well. I'm braking later and quicker than before. The combination of the rear underbody brace, rear strut brace and stock 17x7 with G3 help the car balance under braking and when taking the corners. Even John Boston was suprise that I'm making maneuvers and braking so late that my car is not getting unsettled -but his teaching also made a very big affect. Also started trail braking as well, which I have a feeling helped.

So from a 1.20.7010 (with out APEX) to 1.20.7030 (with new APEX)...I think I can get to the low 1.19 high 1.18 next sunny track day and also get the pro drivers to do I time attack on the car to see its capability and something for me to aim for....I also need more power to play with the big boys who are in constant 1.15s.

All in all, it was a very fun day...no kitty litter for me and enjoyed the drive.

ok...managed to extract the last two laps I did at Wakefield. A lazy drive around the track. first lap 1.20.7880 second is 1.20.7030. To those who hasn't seen the apex...I've driving slow enough to see the height difference.

I think its a lot more grippy

but I also think that I didn't make much use of the apex last time to make a dramatic impact on my time. I feel I've gotten faster and more consistent this time. And also feel that the car is almost at its peak.

I will definitely get a pro driver next round during timed sessions so I can see how far the car can go. Something to aim for.

Aug/Sept would be good for me, (the rims are still in transit atm)

I may be able to attend July @ Wakefield providing I have the rims and tyres sorted

Do you need a cams license for any of these Reg?

Has anyone done a Advance drivers course with Luff here or is keen on doing one?

I would certainly like to get in a session one weekend!

you don't need CAMS for Circuit Club events.

ACOA did an Ian Luff before ...don't know anymore clubs that still do them as they prefer just hitting the track or do skidpan days.

The next Circuit Club day at Oran Park is with the full Ian Luff team, so essentially you are getting a track day and an Ian Luff Stage 3 style day together. That makes the price worthwhile.

so there will be a full tutorial session by Ian Luff?

or he will be there to ask for advice etc?

Hey Guys!

Ian Luff will be there, with a team of about 6 pro drivers - including John Boston and will be on hand all day for advice. We are planning to do a quick tutorial on turn 1 at 9am before the track opens at 9.30

Charlie, is this Trackday too expensive?!! Dude, this is pretty cheap! We are getting Oran Park on a Saturday, with a full team of driver trainers, and timing!

RRP is $375 for this sort of thing. We can also do an OLT on the day if we really wanted to (to get your CAMS licence).

Hey Narada, thanks for joining in.

He speaks the truth guys! I priced an Ian Luff Stage 3 day, which is basically what this is, and the price/person came out at well over $300 each.

I'll almost defnitely be there on the day, but not sure if i will be able to drive (not by choice, mind you).

I'll be there and will take most of the opportunity to get some tutoring done..hehehehe

Members...this is a good opportunity to see what is involved in a track day as it is close to Sydney. Make a day of it even if you are there just to watch. Support the club.
