what a great day we had at Oran Park. Adrian was cooking the track and his brakes...great to see him getting down and dirty..hahaha

Finally met Glenn, and his beast of an MR2...full track spec...after hearing all the stuff he has done to the RS200s...I will make the trek to Wakefield next month racing or not just to see "THEM" in action ;).

Also in appearance was Thunderbird2 "Matt" Aka Roadster Mx5 boy hehehehe

Oran Park South is now my new favourite track...to bad it is closing soon but heard it may be extended till end of next year. Anyway, very fast, hilly, and technical track. It is like riding a small roller coaster.

First turn was a bitch to master, I am just above 140 when I stomp on my brake and make my approach to this long sweeping left turn. Fastest way around it is by entering it very late hence very late hard breaking. Just say so late that I have seen a few locking their brakes and heading to the GP track while one found the tyre wall (car was still driveable and was able to rejoin the day)

Turn 2 and 3 are like a roller coster "S" turn. I was breaking a lot before my trusty instructor told me to just let go of the gas and turn into the downhill of turn 2 and let the rear slide a bit then gas it again on full to enter and exit turn 3.

4th Turn was quite fun...I aim away from the turn by 10-15 degrees and slam on the brakes (preferrably with my left foot) and turn early so I can carry a large amount of speed over the apex. Because our car is soo under powered, I am on full gas the moment I turn into the corner.

Turn 5 and 6 is like a mini shakane but on the blind side...you can see the apex for 5 but 6 is on top of the hill or just over it. a Very much fast, blind and fun shakane. I short shift to 4th the moment I get out of Turn 4 and pedal to the metal the whole shakane.

Buy the time I reach the entrance of turn 7, I'm on 130 to 140 and braking hard enough to bring my speed to 90-100 to make my turn. Full throttle once I enter the turn as the car just manage to keep the needle just above 80 while I make my way to the nearest pit wall.

Anyway, I now say that this track will be sorely missed. I'm very happy that I get the opportunity to drive this track. Cheers to Narada and the CC club for holding the even and to Ian Luff crew for the teachings. I know I can see myself applying the same principals when I go to my next Trackday. Special thanks to those who took pictures as well.

Narada, how can we find our times? I only saw two sessions in there.

BTW, videos to come soon as always.

here are the times...Adrian is 1 second faster than me....great work..I think the extra HP from the CAI and exhaust makes a bigger difference than bigger brakes.. ;)

Luffy is just the best, him and John Boston are some incredible drivers.

Surprisingly Both Oran and Eastern Creek in Sydney are anti clockwise which is not of the norm I think. :D But it is to us in a way because out 3 circuits people here goes to, 2 are anti clockwise.

Awesome Pics looks like a fun day out hey!

Does it feel weird driving with a helmet on?

Im going to struggle fitting myself in my car with a helmet on, my head practically hits the rood without one on

I Might have to do what high tower did in police academy and rip out the front seat and sit on the backseat :P

Adrian is running the Advans tyres also, r u still running hankooks Reg?

The tyres could be the bigger time factor here IMO?

Haha love the bit where Adrians tries to take u on the inside, your instructor was shitting himself by the sounds of it Reg :D

I'm using Federals 595 but didn't get a chance to put in the Enkei with Hankooks.

I too was watching Adrian instead of the car infront of me...hehehehe

Although i didn't get to drive on Saturday, still had a great time watching some fellow club members giving it a red hot go on one of the more difficult Circuits around.

Great to see you out there, Adrian. Will be good to see you at Wakefield next month (hoping i can get my car ready in time). As you have said, and i have said previously, here's hoping some more Altezza Club members *AHEMKurtandShaneAHEM* get out there in the near future. Once track day is all you need to realise that wether your car is stock or not is really irrelevant. There are always cars who are faster, and always cars who are slower in every group. Regardless of all this, you will have a huge amount of fun!

Like Kurt I was in no state for a trackday as I had a huge night planned unfortunately!

I picked up my workboots yesterday (17 x 7.5 +30's & 17 x 8.5 +40's Bronze TE37's)
so I'm right to go, although there isn't a great deal of tread on the tyres (on average 2mm) Just gotta wok out how to drive with a helmet on, as my head hits the rooflining at the moment when I drive without a helmet on since I'm kinda tall <_<

You make a valid point there mate, no matter how fast you are, there is always someone out there who is going to be faster! I'm keen to go for a run, just to learn, have some fun, and flog the arse off my car without worrying about getting a speeding ticket although as a driver I'm a complete novice, I need to learn sum techniques!

Maybe a HSV/FPV bucket is in order

Nope I haven't, but the seats in a STI are a bit squishy for me even, I presume the Recaro's out of a DC2R would be of a similiar size :ph43r:

Been meaning to ask when you go to a track day do you go with a full tank or half a tank? I imagine you would go through a bit of fuel during the day, but I guess if you only use half a tank there is no use lugging around and extra 30L/30kg for nothing!

Also what tyre pressures do you run for the track? 40-42psi?

bucket seat is meant to be squishy...it needs to form into your body...but it always comes down to preference I guess.

During trackday I have the following:

2 x 10Litre Gas Can.
I try to get to the track with 50% fuel.
I have my tyres around 40psi.

I found Wakefield use more fuel that Oran park...I do about 120kms in Wakefield and use up to 50litres of fuel...half way and two tanks...with a bit of left over to get me to the nearest petrol station. While Oran, I did 117kms and used up 30litres of fuel and didn't need the 2 Gas can.

I also carry another set of rims...I bit of an over kill, going to bring only a pair next time.

Great to hear you got TE37s..perfect offset as well ...i'm so jealous!!!!! you do know you will need hub centering ring to put them on properly ;)

Thats interesting about the fuel consumption!

That reminds me Reg I still have to get those rings made up for you, do they have to have the 45 deg bevel on them?

By memory my advans don't have any hub rings on them  Will have a look tommorow!

After watching your vid, I noticed you wear gloves in the vids reg, is this a requirement? I know long pants long sleeves shoes and helmets are but....

I noticed on the JDMST forums there is a trackday at wakefield today put on by 5 Zigen for a good price, will anyone be attending their next session in August?
