I'll be taking my IS down to Wakefield on Friday the 6th of July with a group of toymodders if anyone's interested...

It's just another normal 'no speed limit' day, so anyone can rock up :)

Anyone can go in any car. There will be slower cars out there, believe me! i believe the cost is $100 for the day and you need either a valid CAMS license or you can buy an annual Wakefield licence (costs about 50 bucks, good for 1 year) on the day

OK gang, the next Circuit Club day at Wakefield is Labour Day, October 1st, 2007. Mark in your diaries in indelible ink, and let's see if we can improve upon this:

Awesome I'll be down for this with my stock IS200.

Newbie question: right front shock is weeping abit, nothing serious apparently but do I need to replace these before going out on the track?

Excellent. This is the day after Toyota Fest (would be awesome to see more of an Altezza Club showing this year :P) so the car should be all sweet for a thrash around the track. Might even have some decent brakes by then.

Shocks (and springs) should be replaced on an IS200 as a matter of course ;)
If it's not dripping, ie just damp, then it should be okay for the track day, but I'd look at replacing them at some stage (as an upgrade, not just replacement :P).

Yeah Lexus said it was just a little leak that they adjusted so it's no longer a problem but I'll have to replace them soon.

Upgrade sounds good. I'll go to braking and handling and see if there's any good upgrade suggestions there.

afaik, some good driving skills, a rear swaybar and semi slicks will get you into the 12's in a dc2r

Nathan, and others: Heck yes!

The more the merrier! You will be surprised how little mods count for on the track, not just in terms of track times, but enjoyment factor. It's not like your local main street on a Saturday night, your rims and stickers don't really matter, it's just about driving around a paddock in Goulburn, learning more about your car and your driving then you ever will on the road, and having a suprising amount of fun doing it!

And the opportunity to share the track with similar spec cars and drivers you know makes it that much more enjoyable.

Kenny (R171) back in the day ran his Auto IS at Wakefield and Eastern Creek quite regularly. It put down some pretty respectable times, too.

Traditionally there are also a few people with the cheapest hire car they could get - ie festiva, echo, etc. you get the drift :)

In the end the driver makes the biggest difference... Cars can gain several seconds just from a driver change ;)
