My owners handbook says rs2006mt 1340, z edition 1360, Ledition 1370, 10kg less for 5at; as2001300, 1330,1350. Suspect the translators may have them the wrong way around

According to this web site, each variant of the RS200 is heavier than the equivalent variant of the AS200:
Altezza Main
I'm curious about this, because I frequently come across posts (especially when discussing springs for lowering) that suggest that the 4 cylinder engine is lighter than the 6 cylinder engine. So why are the RS200's heavier than the AS200's? Is this web site mistaken?

Those diff figures are the opposite way around to what I believed. I thought they all had 4.3 except the sportmatic, as I find the manual undergeared and would like to drop the revs at 110kph with a lower diff ratio.

The weights are the same figures as auto.vl, so I assume they are the weights Toyota released for them.

auto.vl

Maybe they pulled weight out of the AS somewhere else. I would be surprised if the 6cyl is lighter than the 4cyl by itself.

So the manual RS is heavier than the auto RS, but the manual AS is lighter than the auto AS...

Maybe its all in the seats!!

Note the fuel difference also in the Japanvehicles page.

Wikipedia lists the IS200 as weighting 1510Kg !

& the British review I just read has the IS200 at 1455kg..

So who knows??

I think the weights Keith quoted are dry weights, so you need to add al the vital fluids to get a true weight

Agreed, the 'pulp' weight of my caldina was 1502kg's weighed at a refuse center of all places, yet auto.ru said the car was around 1460 odd...

Speakers subs and other bold on accessories will add to the weight too...

Hi Keith,

remember we took our cars to the refuse station in East Tamaki a few years back when the club used to be under the LOC banner
My RS200z was weighed in at 1360kg with half a tank of gas and some tools in the boot.

Yeah, 'fraid so.. :(

Mrs Greeneyes (and Miss Greeneyes now, and all 5 cats...! ) are all over there now.

I'm sorting out selling the business, painting the house and doing it up to rent, and shipping furniture, Greeneyes & the Datsun 1600 all over there.

Should be organised by March, but if it takes much longer than that I might sign up for the Big Bunny Shoot at Easter again!! ;)
