Hello there.
a fellow forumite has posted a few questions over at JDM.
he has become a member here but can't start topics yet.
so i'm posting on his behalf

Hi Guys,

I'm going to be purchasing a second car in the next few months, have finalised my choice to the IS200.

There's quite a few of them around, I guess I can start off with some criteria (hopefully it isnt as comprehensive as Van's! ;))

1) Budget of $20k-$25k
2) Must be 6 Speed Manual
3) Sports Luxury model preferred
4) Hopeful for something 200X rather than the 1999 models (very optimistic for my pre-defined budget I know!)

So far Ive got my eye on a Yellow one, I know that there were only 100 produced in this colour.

My questions so far are:

Do all YELLOW IS200s have the Sports Luxury pack (Heated seats is the main criteria - GF wants the IS200 for this! - Sunroof, leather etc)

The Legana kit, from what Ive read there's quite a few counterfeit legana kits out there - is there any way I can find out if it is a real kit?

Ive spotted an ok'ish example with 144,000km for $22k is that an ok deal or should I beat the dude down on price. Obviously the more I save, the more contributes to the aftermarket JDM performance accessorizing fund!

Thanks in advance for your help guys.

Thanks for your help in advance :woot:

If your GF wants heated/power seats… stick with getting the Sports Luxury.

The limited Edition ‘IS200 Yellow’ was marketed as the ‘in-between’ (for lack of a better word) the Base and the Sports Luxury Models.

The Yellow has the exact interior as the base model. ie. Cloth seats and trim. No Power or heated seats. But it does have sports pedals and yellow/carbon fiber steering wheel.

The exterior is Yellow, fitted with Elegance kit (the Legana kit was optional as with all IS200), Polished/dark chrome 17’ wheels and a power sunroof.

Oh… and the other difference is that there is a badge on the dash that tells you the build number of your car out of 100 built.

So if you want to keep your GF happy…. Stick with the Sports Luxury. You’ll get more lovin’ with warmer seats.

so you're saying having it optioned up/down to include/exclude is out of question? How bout the aftermarket in used parts? Im sure its not too hard for 'Yellow' owner to source a used leather interior.

I've a yellow and just came with the front lip, carbon steering wheel, leather seats and sunroof. I don't mind...it doesn't get that cold in Winter in Sydney. I would rather have a cooling seat for summer as when those leather seats (black) get some sum...you get burns just seating on it.

Lexus has a way of selling Limited Edition and having options avaible to add on to it before the final purchase - like the legana kit.

Thanks for starting this post STM.

Hi all,

Thanks for your feedback so far, the owner has confirmed that his Yellow IS200 has cloth seats and NO heated seats (hence fails my GF's compulsory criteria)

So I guess my search continues.

Im sure I'll find the right one with patience and assistance from you folks.

Cheers,

Ray.

Hi Ramyo

Have a look at this one:

http://www.carsales.com.au/used-cars/priva...#124;1&trecs=17

This was actually my car which I sold to this guy to make room for my IS250. It seems to meet your criteria except for the price but when you consider he paid me $25500 for it in October 06 with 86Kms, then I am sure you will be able to bargain with him.

If you want to know anything about the car let me know.

Cheers

Thanks Art,

That one certainly looks like one I'd go for.

Gonna arrange my finances now, by the time I get it sorted I should be in a great position to negotiate if its still there :D

Thanks again for the heads up!
