Who's the ugly pump jockey... Remember the change to unleaded when all the Cortina's caught fire? Badly thought-out laws as usual.. Ethanol mixes with water easily, so the fuel will absorb a little water and it used to cause corrosion back in the early 1980s in South Africa. The aluminium oxidised to a jelly in some BMW carburettors. It is so widely used now around the world I'd say any car would be OK, I'm sure the Japs are not going to go to the expense of making two production sets of fuel lines etc. If it had higher octane than the non-enthanol super I'd use it, but not if it's more expensive for no gain... |

Here's my two cents worth. http://www.aa.co.nz/motoring/news/Pages/Bi...rmotorists.aspx AA will have a list of vehicles on the 9th of August and publish it sometime after that. Probably wont have Altezza's on it but should give some indication if the IS200 is included. I would wait for that and also for any reports about people having trouble before using it regularly. Gull list the water absorbtion properties of the fuel as a benefit. http://www.gull.co.nz/html/force10/tips.htm The bioethanol will actually clean the water from your fuel system so Gull Force 10 is a great product to use. Apparently 98 Octane http://www.gull.co.nz/html/force10/welcome.htm "Gull Force 10 provides greater engine power for many modern vehicles because it has a Minimum Research Octane Number of 98." |

over here in Ireland we get 95ron and thats it ... Tezza's are running fine so far... recently "bio-fuel" has started to become available, some newer "GREEN" cars are running it, one new turbo SAAB is actually faster than it's regular unleaded counterpart as it can run harder due to the higher octane... it's called ethonal 85 which is 85% ethonal and 15% regular unleaded a few guys have fitted adapters to there Tezzas to run this juice as it's 104ron ... still waiting on dyno results... soon hopefully... no pumps near me though ... yet

The list on the AA site quotes "Lexus ALL" and "Toyota ALL models post 1991" looks like Tezza's will be fine. Couple of manufacturers are behind the game with only post 2006 cars able to use Bio whereas some were ok from the mid 1980's. |

Thought I would pick this topic up again, given the current climate of rising petrol prices in NZ mostly due to the ETS and GST going up. Since its introduction in 2007, who here has been using Gull Force 10 and has anyone encountered any problems in their Altezzas? |

I've used it now and then but can't comment on wether it made a difference or not... It did seem to use a little more fuel than when it was run on 95. |

I'm not sure if they had a bad batch of it when I last used it back in Jan but my car ran like arse on it. One of my workmates with a DC2R also had similar issues with it. I won't be using it again. Normal 98 or v-power if I'm feeling poor is all it gets now. It's also very corrosive & Toyota don't recommend you run it in the IS/Altezza. |
