LEXUS DOUBLES UP AT BEST CAR AWARDS Lexus has taken out the Best Prestige Car and Best Luxury Car categories at the prestigious Australia's Best Car Awards for the second consecutive year. Lexus won Best Prestige Car for the IS 250 and Best Luxury Car for the GS 450h. This outstanding result was backed up by a top-three placing for three other Lexus vehicles - the LS 460, RX 350 SUV and RX 400h hybrid SUV. The Australia's Best Car Awards, which replaced seven separate state and territory car club competitions in 2000 and represents some seven million members, is claimed to be Australia's most comprehensive and objective consumer-based vehicle testing and awards program. "This is an outstanding result for Lexus, coming from one of the most respected awards programs in Australia," said Lexus Australia chief executive John Roca. "The second consecutive year of awards for the Lexus IS 250 and GS 450h demonstrates just how good our vehicles are." The hybrid GS 450h defeated the diesel Audi A6 for the title of Australia's Best Luxury Car, which also saw the Lexus LS 460 finish in third position. The GS 450h won its second consecutive title for its outstanding combination of performance and green credentials. Judges commented that the "Lexus GS 450h is the future: a high performance luxury car whose green credentials are second to none. It has set a benchmark for other manufacturers." The GS 450h was also recognised for dispelling the myth that motorists need to change their driving style with a hybrid. "It performs like a V8 and has the ride and handling qualities to match," said the judges. "The Lexus GS 450h has firmly established itself as the green performer of the luxury vehicle segment since its launch in May last year: we've dubbed it 'guilt-free performance'," Mr Roca said. "Hybrid technology is a definite area of focus for Lexus and the second consecutive award for the GS 450h hybrid recognises the quality of our hybrid vehicles," said Mr Roca. To complete the double-act, the Lexus IS 250 was awarded Best Prestige Car for 2007. The Lexus IS 250 defeated 32 other vehicles and edged out the Subaru Liberty and Honda Legend to take out the award. The IS 250 was chosen for its outstanding level of standard features, with judges highlighting the vehicle's "eight airbags, traction/stability control, keyless ignition, electric fold-away mirrors, 13-speaker sound system and nifty 'light sabre' instrument illumination". The judges also went on to say that the IS 250 retained its title of Best Prestige car because of "the depth and consistency of the IS 250 across the [judging] criteria - the critical ones especially". "On many fronts the IS 250 is a class-leader, particularly in the quality and value for money stakes - and its second successive Australia's Best Cars award is testament to that claim," Mr Roca said.

This is certainly great news, getting industry recognised awards can only make Lexus even more desirable. There is no doubt that Lexus is the BEST value for money cars currently. The GS range with Hybrid addition really stand on top. |
