Okay i don't mean to start a brand war or anything. I know recently they have been 8's and the 335's are tt'd sixes. But all this assocation with the m3's being awesome has being going on for a long time. Now I haven't ever driven an M3... Now it seems to me that most in recent years have come with a 3.2 ltr 6. Decent brakes, good weight distribution/chassis, good suspension, nice interiors and a nice overall package... but really is that it? If so then whats the big deal, or is it just the stigma associated with them? |

they are just a truly amazing car to drive, they just do everything well. We some things too well, The interior is really nice, the sequential box is wicked, and yeah... just awesome... I want to have a go in a csl, see how much better it is... |

the m3 has always been a race preparred race car for the road. There is the motor, the brakes, distribution, chassis, suspension etc - but i think alot of what the M series of cars represents comes in the capabilities of the car, and the feelings you get from driving one. Of course i cannot comment but i've driven warmed over e46's before and the drive is just so rewarding It is in a sense what the R badge is to Honda. Anything built by the M division represents an attempt at building something that will be at home on the street or the circuit. If they're going to go all out with a lightweight F/R RWD V8 it should have a toyota badge on it |

It really is important at the end of the day what the entire package feels like. I guess thats where a M3 will always be better than a jz IS. Ofcourse there still is something quite unique in a modified IS that you don't get with stock M3. The price jump between the 30-40k e36's to the 60k e46's really suprise me, but i guess this can be partially attributed more current looking shape as the 36 has started to look aged. Ah well I guess i'll continue saving for conversion rather than looking to upgrade. I have a feeling i'd have issues with selling a 210k car even if it is immaculate and very sound othervise. |
