Yea, I bought a 3 year no excess $1000 warranty with Toyota. I've never spent so much on a car so I thought it was worth it, especially being a '98. Though I'm not sure about my logic here because I bought the car thinking it was the most reliable car out there It'll be funny if they call me today and say "so uhhh, we took it for a spin and uhhhhhh, it's working just fine and uhhhhhhhhhhhhh, wana come pick it up now?" |

OK, so E910 hit it on the head. They cleaned the throttle body sensor (and water temp sensor) and it's 100%. Even seems to rev a little better then before. My guess is that the ECU was able to compensate the last time but there was just too much debris this time to calibrate properly. I just received the TOM's air filter too so I'm going on a little road trip

Absolutely. I would've done this myself if I knew. I guess the Toyota mechanics have seen it all. It was stalling by the time I got it into the workshop. |

I just had a similar experience on Sunday. Parked up at the waterfront to eat sum McD's as we usually do, left the stereo going as we usually do but this time when I went to start the car nothing much happened except click click click. I was able to get someone to give me a jump, the battery seemed to charge fine after that but the car kept stalling (bloody annoying in an auto) or when it did idle it was real low. So the plan was to give all the suspect parts a clean this weekend but after a few days of driving to work and back it finally sorted itself out and now idles the way it's meant to, maybe it just needed a while to relearn what to do but I think I'll still go ahead with the clean anway. |
