Just gauging some interest on these things I came across on the ISFanatics forum.

There's a guy there custom painting them to w/e colour your car is. In a way it would improve security on the car as potential thieves may think there is no key barrel...lol may ;) that and they look quite nice!

I am interested in a set but with them being in the US, may be cheaper to go as a group, unless someone knows where we can get them from over here...

Here's some shit pics on a wet IS:

Does anyone know if rear door handles will fit in the front? they look almost identical and would be a much nicer and smoother look than these things

Sorry guys for the late reply, the seller does not seem to be answering his PM's. Our dollar (AU and NZ) is very weak against the US dollar at the moment and I fear it would be too pricey :( $30+ which I'm not willing to pay!
Trying to locate someone local that can do it for alot cheaper.

Disrtib, thats a good idea, but I have a feeling handles are quite pricey...

I just tried the rear handle in the front door and externally they are the same. The only difference is the rear mount. One the screw goes in from the back above the latch and the other goes in from the inside. It looked like a pretty easy mod to have them fit, it's just a matter of making up a small adaptor block to change the orientation of the mount 90 degrees. I'm going to give it a go so I'll let you know if it's successful.

Minta - This handle change could be sweet - shouldn't be to hard to locate from a weaker either, I'm sure they wouldn't be in great demand lol

the only problem I see with this is what happens if you get caught out with a flat battery on your key fob?

Admittedly the chances are slim but...

Is it worth the hassle?

What happens if your car battery is flat.. What about the alarm keyring dongle being flat?

I'm actually trying it on a spare door I have to see if it will work. I won't be doing it on my car for the exact reasons mentioned. But if anyone wants to do it it's possible with the mod.

Do we have key holes on the passenger side door? I know many cars only have driver side ones, for emergencies. If we can get rid of one and leave one, then that'd be nice.

edit: I have protection against a flat battery on my keyring - I have my Toyota key that will unlock the door, as well as the alarm remote that'll do it.

Still wouldn't help much if the car battery died completely... You could have a small battery hooked up to a wee switch hidden somewhere outside the car. If the car battery dies completely, reach under the car, flick the switch, and you have enough power to unlock the car. Only thing this wouldn't protect against is blown fuses/relays/wiring.
