I did my MAF sensor about 2 months ago and added some injector cleaner on a full tank and my fuel consumption improved as well as getting rid of a flat spot I had @ 3000rpm.

The car drives like a dream now and is faster then ever! :D

Is there one (as in the MAF) in an IS200 with the 1g-fe engine?

I thort they had MAP sensors rather than MAF sensors.

It will be located on the throttle body or mounted to the firewall with a vacuume line running from the throttle body to the MAP sensor,

More than likely the sensor would be fine otherwise you'd notice hesitation, poor throttle response, and generally a crappy running IS200 :)

Looks something like this:

hows the car going wez?

the only thing you havnt talked about here is a sticking or leaking injector.

with the shit fuel we get here it wouldnt take long especially after 90-150(in denis' case) to get some dirt or impurity into the fuel rail even with a fuel filter in the system.

maybe an on car injector clean may help or maybe have to take them out which isnt a massive job and get the bench tested and cleaned which is round 20-30 bucks per injector.

also with the cats starting to fall apart and block up, i have seen it happen once on my friends sportivo corolla but that fully blocked the exhuast and wouldnt rev past about 2000rpm.

but saying that to replace the car would be a big job as there are two and they are both in the exhaust manifold! and i would highly recomend to keep the cats

also wez it may also be cuz your wheel alignement is out causing excess drag on the car but ill try to get that fixed up for you asap

Just a teaser...

A bad or dying O2 sensor can cause fuel economy to drop up to 30%

Seriously!

bumping an old thread, my consumption is getting worse. 100km to 1/4 tank and no more then 200km to 1/2 tank. dads saying its doing roughly 7km/L which is 14.2L/100km that is really hefty. Worse then my STi infact which does 8.5 or 9km/L. thats filling up with 95octane and only mod on the car now is the K&N airfilter

Wez, do you always fill up using the same brand or the same petrol station?
Sometimes I find it that filling up at different stations or brands get better fuel economy

I filled up at Shell now =]
around 125km @ 1/4
285KM @ half mark

ahh auto wont help at all.

also do either of your cars deposit any black shit on the rear bumper or rear of the car, cause thats a sign of running rich.

what about tyre pressures, that can make a decent difference if not checked regularly.

run the car up on a dyno & check the afr's if your really stuck for ideas.

cheers

im talking about tiny specs of black soot that builds up, ive had this on other jap turbo cars which was solved by a aftermarket ecu & tune.

what about your tyre presures?

failing that spend $50 or whatever it is where you are & get a afr printout from a dyno.
