I have spoken to an exhaust shop man and he said budget between $250 and $300 which is all good.. I have no idea what he is doing cause to be honest it all goes over my head, I just want my car to not sound like ass!

I test drove a rs200 that was on TM a while ago, he had an aftermarket muffler and it sounded awesome, like low kinda growl and absolutely none of that tinny vibration sound mine has.

While i'm at it.. do you find hill starts are a bit dodgy?? I am thinking it's just the cars weight, and my driving takes a bit to get going and it kinda chuggs forward on really steep hills then it's away. I guess it's just me getting used to it, my mitsi was nice and light.

The standard Altezza exhaust pipe has the 4-2-1 section, then a catalytic converter, 2.5" pipe until this stage.

The outlet of the catalytic converter is used to taper the pipe down to 2 1/4", it is this size to the first muffler, the next flanged section, and then all of the way back to the main rear muffler.

If you are going to go to a 3.5" (Which is a bit big IMO)

Then I would reccomend replacing the whole lot from the extractors back, otherwise you'll be going 2.5", down to 2.25", then back out to 3.5".

May as well go straight from 2.5" to 3.5", if you must.

I'm not sure those measurements are 100% accurate. I've only got a halfcut (and as such only access to the front section of the exhaust up to the cat) but it's definately 60mm OD piping for the first section, not 2.5" (63.5mm), though I'm sure 2.5" wouldn't be too much of a problem if you needed to fabricate your own.

2jz doesn't matter as much as the trap speed in my signature. I'd be impressed if a 2 litre ran over 127 mph in a full weight altezza!

that sounds like a challenge! what about the AS200 with 240odd rwkw that IS1000 made? :P
