Mains: 43ft/lb or 59NM
Connecting Rods: 49ft/lb or 67NM

For a ST185 3SGTE but should be the same, pretty sure thats what I used on my rebuild...

Distrb bet me :)

while on the topic of torque, does anyone know what to do up the flywheel bolts too on the 3SGE, will be an aftermarket JUN solid flywheel.

The engine repair manual has got everything else but this..

Cheers

Depends which flywheel bolts you are using

If using OEM bolts (should be the same bolt for all 3s motors as the cranks are identical across all gens) recommended torque is 79 footpounds (107NM)

If using ARP ones (cant remember if they make them for the 3s or not) or another aftermarket fastener, then you should use the torque settings provided on the datasheet they are packaged with.

Engine Manual for the 3S-GE Altezza engine states that the torque setting should be 83.4NM, you also need to apply Adhesive 1324 (Blue Loktite) to the last 3 threads of the bolt before installing each bolt. You also need to torque the bolts in sequence as follows (1-8, 1 being 12 o'clock)

1, 5, 3, 7, 2, 6, 4, 8

Work your way up to the final torque values, just like you would on the head bolts in two or three steps. Say 40NM, 60NM, and then 83.4NM, follow the torque sequence each increment. So you should end up going around the bolts 3 times. Once at 40NM, once at 60NM, and once at 83.4NM. Doesn't hurt to go around again to check the bolts don't have any movement after final torque values are reached.

Cheers for that, do you remember which page that is on? As I tried finding something in mine but couldnt find anything. (mine is the engine manual with 1g and 2j engines in the same book.)

Will be getting new OEM flywheel bolts from toyota when I need them as the JUN flywheel is the same thickness as the dual mass (at the mounting point - but over 6kg lighter!!)
