Everytime I get about 2000km away from an oil change my car gets this flat spot at around 3000rpm and it surges. Last time I did an oil change and an ECU reset and it seemed to come right. Once again I got to 2000km away from the next oil change and it started doing it again. My husband checked the oil yesterday and it wasnt even showing on the dipstick so he did the oil change today and there was only 2 and a half litres of oil in it when we put 4 litres in it at the last oil change. There are no oil marks on the garage floor or any of the other areas I frequently park in and the car isnt smoking so the question is.......Where is all my oil going?!?!?! I know some of it may still be sitting in the engine but a litre and a half??? May seem like a retarded question but I wouldnt mind knowing

possibly still in your engine? i went to replace my spark plugs a while ago and saw a lot of oil in all of the spark plug chambers, turns out my rocker cover and spark plug seals were hard as rock and letting oil leak into the chambers. just some food for thought ![]() good luck finding the issue :S |

Do a test, fill it to the full mark on the dip stick, and check it every 1000km and note it down. The tolerance for the 3SGE is approx 1.0L per 10,000 kms. Saying that my engine uses a bit of oil, from the valve stem seals and/or rings, no major, just keep an eye on the oil level. Oh how I can't wait to start on a new motor LOL |

Could be burning it off, I've had the same problem with it going out through the breather. |

..and maybe go up a grade in viscosity. 5W will burn off faster than 10W. |

How drunk were you ![]() The 3SGE takes about 5.1L with a filter change as far as I remember, you shouldn't really burn any oil at all, I know on my engine I've never had to top up between 5000km oil changes and its done 170,000km's now! |

Jason probably has to put more in due to the sump he's got. |

Every stock one I've done has taken 6L, just done a service on AltezzaGirl's car and hers took 6L, Muzza's took 6, mine used to take 6, mine now holds 8L of oil with the Trust sump pan and Oil Cooler. |
