hey guys as the topic suggests im thinking of putting a 3SGTE turbo motor into my IS200. just wondering if any one has done it before and know of any of the problems they came across? being a turbo motor from factory there are some things that i wouldnt have to worry about such as oil lines and what not that u have to sort out with turboing a 3SGE motor. im guessing i can just use the altezza engine mounts and still use my IS200 6 speed box? im looking for about 200-250kws at the wheels if i cant make it work ill just chuck my CA18 in there from my 180sx haha any posts where this has been talked about before would be great cheers josh |

The IGF-E bell housing won't fit the 3SG-E block, so you'll need an Altezza 6speed I think. It also depends on what sort of quality you want the finished product to have. If you want it to be identical to an Altezza with a turbo, then a half-cut would be the way to go. If that's not important then just a motor and box will do, as you can fabricate and bodge all the other bits like wiring loombs and aircon/heaters/coolant pipes. In the end it can be done, but loads of fabrication and trial and error would make it more expensive then doing just the 3SGE conversion then turbo that down the track |

The 3SGTEs won't use the same mounts as the Altezza 3SGE. Manifolds will also be heaps different, and the heads are designed to be tilted to the inlet side on the 3SGTEs for oil circulation as they are a FWD engine basically. Going to be harder to get a 3SGTE into the IS200 instead of the Altezza 3SGE. |

Lol I dont mean to be a parrot Josh, but Nick mentioned what I did on our msn chat. Unfortunately the FWD layout of the 3SGTE will be a killer, but having said that Top secret were running a 3SGTE in their high speed supra for a while there.... |

Keep in mind though Shane that the GT300 and GT500 3SGTEs were all pretty much custom top to bottom, no longer running VVTI on them (cancelled the whole oil starvation in the head issue) + heaps more. 500RWHP from a 3SGTE would be cool though

hmmm ok well looks like it would be harder then i 1st thought. i dont really see the point in buying a non turbo half cut to then turbo it later on down the track. but thats just me looks like i might aswell just slap an SR20 in there with a GT3071 and crank out 300kws haha or even better just put a 2jz into my 180sx haha i have delt with engine conversions before with my corolla putting a blacktop 20v into an AE92 sx seca. so im well aware of all the work that goes into it but i was hoping the 3S blocks would be the same so i could just bolt up the altezza engine mounts and brackets and away u go. p/s and coolant hoses are no worry, just mainly the a/c pipes and so on. there was one guy with a turbo altezza at the wollongong cruise... im guessing his is a turbo 3sge motor not a 3SGTE? |
