Went to the Shell stn to fill up and noticed when I left and drove down the road 2kms that the fuel gauge didn't come up to full (it was below quarter originally naughty me). Turned car off then jumped in 5 mins later and started it up but still didn't come up - would go up to the original level of below quarter but not full. As something weird happened when I originally tried to get the fuel in at the pump and the servo guy ended up taking over to sort it out, I went back to Shell to make sure they had actually put some in (and not just charge me $80!). We tried putting more petrol in but it was definitely full. Randomly, another customer behind me said he used to have a Tezza and he had the same problem with an intermittently fuel gauge. First time it has happened to me and I've had the car nearly 3 years. By the time I was round the corner from my house the gauge decided to show full again. Anyone else have the same prob, and does it always come right, or does it gradually get worse. $ to fix? |

I had this happen not long after I bought my car, have owned it for three years and have not had it happen since. So wouldn't worry about it unless it keeps happening. |

There's a hose that runs from the fuel pump/main sender assy to the drivers side of the fuel tank that can interfere with the float on the main sender, just pop out the seat and the cover, remove the 8 or so bolts and turn the main unit left and right a few times, or go all out and remove the main unit, cable tie the hose out of the way and bolt it all back up, Sorted the problem for me, never had a drama yet |

Cool thx all, will wait and see if it happens next time I fill it, if so it's hopefully just a dirty sensor and cheap to fix! |
