Got a few questions for the mechanically minded, hopefully someone can help me out :ph43r:

Currently running a Supra TT intank fuel pump, but it's slowly on its way out and starting to whine louder and louder, but looking at going for the Walbro GSS342 fuel pump, but have heard it can be a nightmare to get it to fit into the factory cradle.

What I want to know is:
1) How hard is it to fit the Walbro GSS432 intank fuel pump? What were the required mods to adapt it to suit the factory fuel pump cradle?

2) Would I be better off going back to a factory fuel pump and adding an inline external pump? (Bosch 044 fuel pump or Walbro GSL392)

3) If I'm to go with the external pump, do I keep the factory fuel pump in the tank or would I need to remove it? If I need to remove it, what would I do with the factory regulator?! And would I need a swirl pot (fuel surge tank) with the external pump.

Any help would be much appreciated

Someone please sticky this.

I've been PM'd about the Walbro quite a few times and decided to gather information needed to settle what pump is needed for a direct replacement.

Here's the stock fuel pump.

Notice the location of the fuel inlet where the filter connects to relative to the outlet.  Compare it to the 342 (left) and 341 (right).

From the pics, you can see the GSS342 is the correct fuel pump that you will need to use for a direct replacement.  Here's the big reason why you need the GSS342.

Notice the white plastic clip that connects to the bottom of the fuel pump assembly.  If you got the wrong pump, that clip won't go on.

Now when you decide to get the Walbro be sure to get the install kit as well.  The install kit will have the fuel filter, pig tail, and connectors that will be used during the install.

When you're installing the pump, be sure to cut the wires so they're staggered.  If both wires accidentally come lose, they can't make contact with each other.

Wow didn't think it was just mainly wiring.

Any problems with the length of the pump Nick? Any mods required to the factory fuel pump bracket and housing or just the soldering?

If you get the right pump all you need to do is solder no length issues, I incidentally got the other one which required cutting a lil bit of the plastic to fit, Josh installed it and it was all dandy. :)
