I've had a quad throttle setup but I've been trying to figure out what is causing some problems with my engine, so have reverted to standard Altezza manifold + Altezza throttle body. I'm not using an Altezza ECU/loom etc so cant use the electronic wizardry in the throttle body even if I wanted to So I pulled apart the throttle body to have a geez at how it works, and make it work using just the cable hopefully. Well there's a fairly simple solution to doing so, if anyone was keen to do similar. On the side of the throttle body that has the cable pulley on it, you basically just undo that whole housing, rotate it 45 degrees anti clockwise, and then make a bracket or even some small washers so that it's held in place with two of the four original screws. Then, bam. Throttle opens all the way using just the cable, no ECU deciding whether or not you're allowed any power Will post some pics later if anyone is interested. Also, if anyone has a spare crank pulley that they would like to sell, I need one... Broke a tooth off mine stupidly, had it repaired but I think it's the cause of my engine misfire problems... So shout out if you've got one spare! |

It looks like I've narrowed it down to the crank angle sensor wheel not reading properly. A while ago I stupidly managed to smash one of the teeth off the wheel. Had a new piece welded on and filed to shape, but it was ever so slightly shorter than the other teeth. I dont think the crank angle sensor is able to count this tooth when the rpms go up a bit. It's like the engine hits a rev cut at 4000rpm or so. I've checked for error codes just today, and it's listing a fault with the ignition circuit, confirms my suspicions. The colour of the spark plugs indicates they are all firing well, so unlikely to be faulty coil packs, especially since I've replaced them not so long ago. Swapping back to the single throttle setup just helped eliminate a lot of variables, will go back to quads set up once everything is running properly. |

so does this bypass the tps sensor on the throtle body? as my mech wants me to get a new throtle body so i dont have to run with the tps as he said itl be a cunt with the link. Cheers, Sam |

I'll post up some pics later tonight, I can answer your questions but it's easier to explain with a few pics! Sam, yes this will make it easy as to set up a link ECU with your engine. And yes, this should work sweet with standard Altezza ECU, although I havent tested it. Will post some pics showing how best way to do it would be, to retain standard ECU. |

Probably just tack welded it internally, might pull mine apart and have a looksie Only problem is if you disable the Electronic Throttle Control you no longer have the idle control or deceleration fuel cut unless the motor is still able to do its job with the TPS and APS sensors linked. Thats with a factory ECU of course, Link G4... another story! |
