You'd probably want BKR7EIX11 if you can find them or else get some Denso IK22 from Nick.

8's is crazy.

6's are fine for up to 15 psi.

Lots of 1000hp 2j's run 7's.

Id be itnerested to know what people base their decision to run different plugs on.

Do you "read" the plugs.

Or is it a "seat of the pants" assesment based on how well your car...

a: starts
b: idles
c: smoothness at large boost and revs

I tend to do both Matt, I check the plugs after about 1000km to see if they are burning right.

And by the seat of the pants assessment too, mainly on smoothness while driving, don't get to drive mine much anymore so most times I give her a few minutes before driving her anyway

Ps those NGKs from STA are cheap!!!

i just ran 8s because the guy that dynos my car has always recommended them never had a problem and always made very good power. and yeah was running high boost in most of those vehicles 15 20+psi

Im hoping to get over 200kw out of my altezza ive lowered the compression done the injectors decent t3 turbonetics turbo 38mm adjustable waste gate and a g4 link. i quess the let down will be the fuel pump but i quess i will find out in the next couple of weeks :D

looks good! nice and neat NVD323!

I always have alook at my plugs when I change them (and even keep them lined up on a shelf for future reference). But I realise there is very little to be learnt from them (unless there is catastrophic problem) unless you follow the right procedure before shutdown.

Basically if you are interested in how your plug is performing on boost then you need to run at full load (and revs) and cut ignition at that point, just switch it off with your foot buried, then pull the plugs. This is really only possible on a dyno unless you have a spare airstrip or country road and dont mind pulling plugs on the roadside.

I chose 7's atm as the heat band on the electrode was too far down with 6's and the 7's seem to move it up to the right spot.

Also I am using BCPR7ES atm, it seems (though I cant tell) that they are better insulator design for what i am doing. I used to use BKR6ES
religiously just like every other J series modifier.

Cool plugs will always perform well on boost but it is the other times light load, cold start, and idle that will suffer if the plug is too cold.

we do a lot of tuning at work so ya get to know what ya can use ect also reading the plugs after a run you also get a good ida on that going on

i run ik22 with 19psi and they are fine no miss fires ect or det i also run a but of timing eg 15 16 deg under at 16 psi and 10 psi t gets 20odd deg if timing
