Looking at removing my AC as my condenser has had a crack in it for ages and I've never really missed it. So thought I'd take it all out, save some weight and get more space under the bonnet at the same time since its there doing nothing.

Hoping someone here has done it before

Few questions:
1) Would I need to cap the hoses that come out from the firewall after I remove all the piping?
2) Off chance someone has done it before and knows what sized belt to run for the power steering?
3) Any adverse effects or problems of removing the AC?
4) Would it have any effect on my current heating system?

All help much appreciated

1) Would I need to cap the hoses that come out from the firewall after I remove all the piping?

you dont HAVE too, but its best to so that no moisture gets inside the system ( if you may want to put all the a/c back in the future ). if you never want the a/c again then leave them open, but not difficult to get some rubber bungs.

2) Off chance someone has done it before and knows what sized belt to run for the power steering?

Also not to hard, bring it around to the workshop after work one night and we'll measure up the length and you can go catalog browsing

3) Any adverse effects or problems of removing the AC?

Maybe heat exhaustion on a bloody hot day?

4) Would it have any effect on my current heating system?

None what so ever

I am running a Gates K040425 you should be able to cross refference that. You cant go any smaller. As it it i have to pull the tensioner pully off to get it to go on easier.
I know why it works cause I did it, i know why it broke cause I did it.

Mines been gone for ages, miss it on those really hot summers days but the extra airflow over the radiator must keep the motor happy,

I've had no problems at all with it gone, didn't plug the holes in the firewall either. I think from memory my belt is a 4PK1070, its a little tight to get on but otherwise does the trick

Thanks for your responses, the K040425 seems to b a 4PK1080, so Leiden your 4PK1070 sounds close too.

Will give it a crack next weekend with some luck!

i running 4PK1080 on mine it a better fit than the 1070 is a bit to hard to get on for my liking and miine are just left open if you got real keen you could take the dash out and remove the whole then and put a rubber bung in to full the hole
