2nd Gear Is Choppy

Hey

I don't know what is wrong but when i rev up from first gear and then go to second, most of the time it feels really choppy, almost like the feeling of under reving but i'm at like 4-5k revs.

I've only noticed it on second and it only happens when i'm trying to go fast. Is it something to do with the clutch or gearbox?

Cheers

First to second is a big drop in revs compared to the other gears.

Try being more deliberate with your clutching and movement of the gear stick.

Sorry, by gearbox does that mean engine oil. (i feel stupid asking this but i'm so sure i saw somewhere someone telling me that it was the same thing...) if yes, i did it less than 10k ago and wil do when i hit 10k again...

Otherwise, no idea at all...

Will more than likely be old gearbox oil that causing this. Get down to your local BNT & pick yourself up some Redline MT-90. Myself & Jeremy can vouch for how good this stuff is. It makes gear shifts so smooth.

DIY..

Like engine oil change but more of a pain!

Jack it up, undo drain plug over a container, replace when drained then fight the fresh oil into the side plug.

(says he who has never done it on Greeneyes!! :D )

That's standard for all the cars I HAVE done!

I often use a length of garden hose with a funnel stuck in the top so I can fill it from the engine bay.

In a garage they will do it on a hoist and use a pump to fill it, so its all shit-easy and cleaner.

You'll need a 24mm ring spanner to get the filler plug open as there's not enough room to get a socket over it. Also doing it on the ground wont be fun. I have access to a hoist & oil pump so it was dead easy. At the end of the day it might be easier to pay someone to do it if you don't have the right tools.

Thanks for that and yes, i'll prob follow ur advice of getting someone to do it. Hey what is a full service? does it include things like Gearbox oil and MAF? hear its abour $3-400. Is it worth it? (if you don't know what you are doing...)
