I search the forum but I would only find a thread about the 3S not the 1G So as title, once the car is warmed up, it is idling kinda low (between 0 and 1000 rpm mark) It is also vibrating at the low idle, and it would try to rev up. The vibration will be gone for 1/2 a second, and it will drop back down to low idle with vibration. It does the same whether it is in D or N (4 speed auto here) Any thought? |

How about one spark plug dropping out? A plug giving up or a coil dying. Check them for even colour and be suspicious of any plug that is darker than the others. Other than that, I'm not sure how the 1G air sensor compares to the 3S MAF, but something in there might be reading the airflow incorrectly. |

Does the pulse of the motor sound normal or does it sound like its missing a 'beat' through each cycle of the cylinders? Alternatively while the motors idling pull each injector one by one and see if it makes a change in the way the car idles, if you pull an injector plug and it makes no difference then thats your suspect cylinder. If it feels lumpy and not smooth then most likely theres a cylinder missing, the injector test is a good one to isolate the problem |

I might have to listen more closely to see if I have a missing cylinder Will update this tomorrow |

I am sure there will be an idle adjustment screw on the throttle body, just need to wind that in a bit, or just clean out the throttle body or oil etc. |

Alright, a bit of update Today I went ahead and took all the engine cover all. Using the screwdriver to ear listen method to listen to various areas in the engine. It sounds fine. Nothing seems to be missing. The low idle only happens when the car is stationary. When the engine is revving it is smooth and doesnt seems to lose any power. However, I did noticed a ticking sound and it is the loudest between the intake and the engine block. Is that normal? I did clean the throttle body with the propose throttle body cleaner but no go. It worked for 30 seconds, then it went down again. I will have to learn more on how to remove the injectors and spark plugs before I start destroying the engine with my limited mechanical knowledge. ![]() Any other thoughts? |

Mean while I took the cover off again for the second time, This time with photos of stuffs that are kinda... sus... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And inside the engine from the oil cap ![]() Is there anything that is not normal? I have also found this on toyomod: http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/showthread.php?t=4624 Would it be possible to perform on the 1GFE? Is there a ISCV on the 1G? |

Just a small update Used the Subaru Upper Engine Cleaner, and this is what I found: 1) Engine idle was smoother (but it is still too low for my liking) 2) A lot more of low end torque 3) A lot less resistance when right foot is off the gas (like, it stays at 70ish for a bit longer when there's no medal input from the driver) 4) No smoke show as shown in Youtube. Had to rev the nuts out of the engine when driving to get some greyish blue smoke 5) Ticking noise is a lot less noticeable (I am guessing the ticking that I am hearing now is the normal operational of the fuel injectors) So, low rev still continuous =[ But ticking was gone =] Any thoughts? |

It's been awhile, but after reading this http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/showthread.php?t=4624 ![]() I was wondering how difficult will it be to remove the item #17300 in the diagram? I am willing to try anything to make the low idle to go away Any info or suggestions are more than welcome =] |

The cracked hose looks like the clean air intake for the PCV system, so that's not crucial. Check with Nick, I'm not sure what item 17300 does. It looks like it has just one bolt holding it on and it goes through the gasket 17315A, and the airflow somehow is related to whatever the diaphram does. I think the ISCV they are talking about on Toymods bleeds air past the throttle valve- it looks like it is basically a solenoid controlled piston valve, but I can't see how 17300 does the same job. |

17300 is the intake air control (valve assy on the diagram) It is the closest thing on the 1GFE compared to the one mentioned in the article linked above. 17315a is a gasket for the intake air control valve |
