just a holiday ? go to Sun City / Lost City a 2 hour drive from JHB to Rustenburg and experience the busveld and one of the greatest hotels /golf and resorts there. Cape Town to PE a good drive down the coast past Stellenbosch (my town) full of students and wine capital of the country.Mosselbay and Wilderness...do the highest bungy (216m) and Knysna forest. Kruger national Park might see some animals but maybe just a minivan with some monkeys with boom boxes. Try Kimberley on way to Cape Town (if driving) with the big hole in the ground where diamonds came from and yes there is 2 holes there on full of rocks and other the 22,000feet deep water filled one with museum. oK i think thas to name a few. Cheers |

Rent a car/van and do the big random drive... I went there for a week or two and stayed 8years. Wife and daughter have been there since Feb and show no plans to come back to Aussie! They flew to CT, drove North to Citrusdal area & back, then East along the coast as Johnny said. Back to CT, they took the sleeping train to Jo'burg and then drove to Kruger, where we have been 6 or 7 times over the years. I hitchhiked around, as did a couple of girlfriends I still know 40years later, and you just can't beat that for meeting the locals and getting involved in real people's lives. The people are great- helpful, direct and honest. They don't take shit and don't believe in all this fuzzy politically-correct Socialist stuff that pervades Western countries. I'd be there if I didn't have responsibilities here! |
