Toymods confirmed that the head volume is 33cc in the Beams, Unfortunately putting 3SGTE gear into the Beams will both raise the compression and because the valve flycuts are different between the Beams and 3SGTE your valve's will end up hitting the piston. The Beams has a narrower valve angle than the 3SGTE. You could have the valvecuts machined to Beams spec, but then you're going to end up with similar compression to the Beams anyway. Taking extra meat out of the piston will ultimately weaken it so unless your going with TODA forgies then it's probably best to stick with the tried and true Beams Pistons, stacked Factory Head Gaskets, ST205 or 3SGTE Forged Rods and ST215 540cc Injectors. Alternatively you could go down the same path as Andrew and go with the 2JZ Pistons and 3SGTE Rods. With that recipe you should be making a pretty safe 200rwkw with a little headroom if you really want to push it. Unfortunately don't forget that your better off with a PowerFC or Link G4 Storm than a Piggyback ECU playing with your injector/ignition pulse. You'll have heaps more control over Startup, Warmup, Part Throttle, and Full Throttle... not to mention complete control of the VVTi Maps. I denied it for the very long time but ultimately 2x Blown Engines and I'm only just beginning to see the light. Would have saved thousands if I did it right the first time But then again I wouldn't know half of what I know now... at least I can point others in the right direction with some kind of experience in the situation.

yeah you only learn from mistakes aye man. the 3sgte pistions im looking at have a big bowl sumthing like 6cc or 8cc....was wondering about this as ive read on here before about the 3sgte pistons not working. the local engine builders ive been talking with seem to think that they do work and reckon they have used them before so im a lil unsure now lol. so 33cc aye thanks for that yeah i have st215 injectors and a link g4. getting 3sgte eagle forged rods and acl race bearings.I can get m & h rods for half the price but am unsure of quality the wastegate and b.o.v i got of them are fine. i mite just go with stacked head gaskets again as the pistion look mint and seem to be hangin in there. but for piece of mind forged pistions would be mint. ill let you guys know what i come up with haha |

Double check on those mechanics, if they can dummy it up and simulate VVTi advance and there's no contact then that might be a better option than the Beams. As for M&H Rods "M&H Rods are cheap chinese ripoff garbage, I wouldn't use them if they were given to me." Quote from some 4G63T Boys... |

Yeh one of the guys on here put in different pistons (was awhile ago can remeber the setup) and it ran perfectly fine untill he gave it WOT and vvti kicked in and smashed the valves into the piston head, so be ery careful of that! Happens to the best of us |

Lowered

3sgte pistons are suited to the gen 3 and st215/65 as the valve angle is different to the beams 3sge ,i would go the toda turbo pistons with eagle rods |

yeah that guy made a resonably fundamental mistake. Its not that 3sgte pistons wont work, coz they will. Its more about the fact that its not a "bolt in, no machining req" solution to lowering your compression, as well as there are other options that require less work and less cost for a similar result in static compression once you've crunched the numbers. My only concern is the machining required on the crown of the 3sgte piston to get the compression down to the desired level. If you're chasing power i'd go with the forged pistons and rods. If not, it's cheaper to just turn the wick down a little
