Who here is running Denso Iridium Power IK20 plugs ?

I've just been reading an article on Iridium plug failure & the example they gave (IK20) had been in an engine for well over 60K. The center electrode had worn away & there was a 4mm gap now where there should have only been 1.1mm. The person writing the article assumed like most that all Iridium plugs are long life. After looking on the Denso site it would seem that their Iridium Power range are only good for 15-20,000km :o That makes them very expensive plugs when you compare them to similarly priced NGK BKR6EIX11 which are good for 60K. Standard NGK nickel alloy plugs are good for 20-40K. If you must have Denso Iridium then I'd just stick to SK20R11.

Just thought I'd make everyone aware of this. Make sure you change them at the recommend intervals so you don't risk damaging your coil packs.

*EDIT*
You can now get Denso VK20 in NZ from your local Toyota dealer. They have the same 0.4mm iridium tip as the IK20 but a platinum tipped electrode so they are good for 90-100K. They make much better sense to use than any other plug in your standard engine.

Pretty sure I put IK22's in my 2JZ-GE @ 96k kays, and now I am at 136k which means I may be well overdue for a new set thinking they would last to just under 200k!

Or stick with DENSO and go for the PK20R11 plugs. which are platinum, and have a longish service life.
