Hi All

We had our timing belt replaced last week and ever since then the engine check light is coming on. the car has been back to the garage that did it every day now since monday. The first time they said it was a magnetic clutch problem and deleted the error code from the cpu. that night (tuesday night) the light came back on so Wednesday i took the car back, they scanned the cpu again and this time found the vvti sensor to be faulty (they say this was an intermittent fault from a long time ago) and cleared the error from the cpu. Of course that night on the way home the engine light comes back on. Thursday when i take it back they replace the vvti sensor but the light still comes on. the car seems to be down a little bit on power while driving but it starts fine and idles smoothly. i was thinking the timing was out a tooth or two. Do you guys have any clues as to what it could be

cheers
steve

well i'd give them another go to fix it next week. and make them aware that if they can not fix it then you'll be taking it to north shore toyota to get repaired and they'll be paying for it.

sounds possible that the belt could be out.

If your game follow my post about how to read engine codes:

http://z4.invisionfree.com/lexusaltezzaclu...?showtopic=7637

Then either google Toyota OBD1 error codes or post them here and I can look them up.

Hi All
Well i picked the car up again from the mechanic and it seems we have some new found power and the engine light didnt come on, on the drive home. They clam the timing was a tooth out. It is such a relief to have it back how it was. They also refnded the price from the parts that i didnt require.
we will see how it goes over the next few days :)

cheers
steve

thanks all for the input

It probably should have been the first thing they checked seeing as it had just had a cambelt change done, funny how they throw parts at it and check the most obvious thing last but good on them for refunding the money for the parts!

Im glad i have a 5yr Signature Class warranty on mine, any problems i take it to the dealer and say whats wrong and they fix it at no charge, i'v had new brakes, hoses, belts, water pump all changed at different times for free.

Would recommend the signature class to anyone
