in a similar vein to another thread, how can you tell if Vvti is working on a 3sge blacktop running a power fc?

ive had these ecu's before but not with Vvti, any info would be good.
thanks

Practical test = Unplug the solenoids and take it for a drive. Will feel very flat, esp around 5krpm. Just make sure you turn the car off before you plug them back in again.

From memory Power FC only has a check for o2 and knock. So wont go into limp mode.

Or if you have the software, i dont think there is a vvt-i on/off option in there, but you could zero the entire tables for both inlet and exhaust. Obviously making sure you back up the original values before doing so.

theres only so much you can do with the commander, but it is possible to make adjustments with it. Check out http://www.fc-datalogit.co.nz if you are looking for the software/interface.

yes his is turbocharged with very large aftermarket camshafts. vvt-i active on camshafts that big is very bad for valve to piston clearance.

faker- you should join up to VIP status and you'll find alot more information available to you about his impressive build, and lots more!

Guys,
Sorry to highjack the thread since we are on the topic of Power FC.

I am going to do the auto conversion to manual. I was wondering should I invest in standalone Power FC. I checked Japan website it is about USD 1K. I heard it can do wonders and all the parameter of a stock ECU can be changed according to local condition and driver preference.

Can it remove the speed cut as well?

Pls let me know as i am still contemplating.

yeah, no speed cut, you can set rev limit with handcontroller easily etc

ive tested mine back to back with the stock ecu -as we know theres not a lot of grunt with these cars obviously, but the tuned ecu is much better imo.
cheers

Thanks RS200faker
Yeah I heard the power Fc can certainly help the low end torque issue. I find the original ECU is very restrictive maybe due to emission control and it is also tuned for 100 Ron fuel. I think by retuning with local condition and fuel rating ... we can get the most out of the engne..

Anyway thanks for your input....appreciated....

yes thats right, stock ecu tunes tend not to have performance as their main aim in regards to ign timing and afr's.
part throttle/cruise fuel economy can improve with a good tune as well.
cheers
