Seems the search function isn't working so I'm making a topic here.

I'm looking for feedback and opinions on running nitrous on a stock RS200 5AT, has anyone done it and what did you need to do/alter etc, what shot did you do, did you go direct port or single shot and also did you dyno the car and what were the results.
Thanks for any feedback

NOS is a waste of money tbh, the cost to fill a NOS tank is just stupid would be better off using the money on a turbo kit which will last you longer also cheaper.

ok glad all the "turbo kit" guys gave their advice but that's not what I asked, kits here cost about $800 US and a fill up is $80US, I don't need to be "on" all the time so when I'm not my car is completely normal and I'm fine with that for daily driving. Does any of the naysayers have any nitrous experience or are you repeating the typical lines heard from those with no real world experience?
I've never seen a turbo kit anywhere near that price that was worth it's salt and a home made kit would cost more than $800US, nitrous has the best bang for buck and when done properly is very safe and reliable, now can anyone answer the questions I posed at the beginning?

Wasn't meaning to sound negative.

But what does this nos kit come with? I'm assuming you'd need more than just a bottle of nos smashed into the side of your engine. Does the kit come with everything for your car? Or is it a universal kit?

And I couldn't see the gains on a stock standard Altezza being anything amazing? (Fuel pump, injectors limitations?) But I'm more than likely wrong and it would be interesting to see.

Theres a post on NOS.

And for the comment about turbo kits not being worth there salt, can't say I know of too many other mods you can do for NZ$5k and get 80kws extra at the wheels. Again not saying this is for you.

I'm not saying a turbo kit isn't good I said no kit for the price if a NOS kit would be worth it, isn't $NZ5K over $3KUS a nitrous kit costs $800US and comes complete with everything including solenoids, lines, switches, wiring, brackets etc this can be installed in a couple hours and be used on a completely stock engine and ecu, as for gains that all depends on what shot you use and whether it's a single or direct port set up, by my calculations an 80 shot direct port would put you at 220 whp (auto)
I'm aiming for a single 60 wet shot (using the inlet that the PCV valve has just before the intake manifold) used with an RPM window switch ( simple setup) or AEM FI/C, 1 stage colder plugs (7's) and tuning. the intent is ti be around 200 whp on the bottle for those infrequent red light challenges and increase the jet size for track meets

Something I should explain here---it is much easier to source turbo kits in NZ than in the Caribbean where I live, it's not impossible but it is prohibitive, a kit will cost me over $30K TT whereas I can get a 1JZGTE swap for $14KTT and a 2JZGTE swap for $20KTT thus if I was going boost I would just do an engine swap. The NOS is for something different from the norm at a low cost and for days when you want to surprise someone and have some fun

Before you get too wound up, have a think about the question you are asking and the demographic you are aiming your question at. You're from the Caribbean asking on a Nz/Australia based forum

Now in NZ Nitrous oxide is illegal for use on the road and on a racetrack. Only place it is able to be used legally is on the drag strip, but even then it isn't widely used nor cheap. Turbo/superchargers are the exact opposite, so usage of them is more widespread, knowledge about them is greater, and results are proven.

So with that in mind, does that surprise you how many people are saying you should just go for a turbo/supercharger kit?

N02 might be a greater more cost effective option for you in the sunny Caribbean, but you'll be very hard pressed to find people in this community that will have the experience necessary to provide the grounded product assessment that you appear to be seeking
