I am in the process of turboing my is300. No kit will fit as we are RHD and all the kits are made for LHD so a few things need to be custom made. Let me tell you, it's not cheap ![]() Edit: you will need to lower your compression and run GTE internals to be able to run a decent amount of boost. SRT make an awesome kit but the price + delivery is too much. Also it wont fit without ALOT of work lol. |

ISMR is doing it as well as Westside Mufflers and another shop I can't recall for my gearbox.... don't get me started on the gearbox work just to be able to handle the power :/ I sourced ALL my parts on my own. No one in AUS has done a NA-T on an IS300 until now. AFAIK! |

what if i dont plan on making big power figures? i am currently speaking to a guy in the us and he seems to think that as long as i stick to 6-7 pounds i should have to worry ? |

Sure 6-7psi would be relatively safe but the amount of money it will take to safely bolt on a turbo on an AU is300 is just not worth it. I've been researching it for over a year now and the amount of money involved you might as well go big while you're at it... 7psi you're looking at roughly 200rwkw according to the average US NA-T dyno sheet I've seen... it's never enough

turbo manifold for the ge hits smack right on the steering column, cheaper to piece your own kit then ditch them from a kit that costs over US$6k + shipping and taxes? |

I have a Supra exhaust manifold on mine, which I imagine most 2j manifolds would be based on. Only has extremely minor mods to make it perfect. It would most likely need only small changes. If the kit is a COMPLETE kit then it still represents good value. Oftent hey include plugin ecu's and intercoolers etc. You could easily spend more than 2 times the 6g to make a peicemeal setup work well. So does the #6 manifold runner itself hit on the steering ot the dump pipe as it goes past? Itis very low for the runner to hit it. |

I have plenty of experience with this topic and please feel free to pick my brain. lets go through some basics: -2jzge(vvti and non vvti) share the same intake and exahaust manifold paterns, which are not compatible with the gte motor. -2jzgte(vvti and noon vvti) share the same intake and exhaust manifolds bolt paterns which are not compatible with ge motor. -an ebay supra manifold mated with a good wastegate will do the job. bottom end internals are all interchangable making GTE rods and pistons a perfect alternative that will increase your potential from +/- 400hp until about 900 hp. so to build a strong 2jz is reletevely cheap, interchangeable parts and a plentiful aftermarket makes it easy to build. The downpipe will be the challenge since steering column will be in the way. This acually is why I am converting my car to RHD for my 3sge swap because of the nightmares of fabricating downpipe and wastegate placement with steering column in the way. the next and final thing to consider(speaking from experience) is power to the ground- Transmission-I broke my w55 stock 5spd in under 200 miles from being boosted. You can spend (will speak in USD$) +/- $1000 to go w58 and hold 300hp, you can go r154 for +/- $1800 and hold 450-500hp, or you can go v160 spend $5000 and hold 1200hp..... Its not cheap to put the power of 2J down. I LOVE the v160 and I beat on it with no fear of shredding it as I was only putting out 545hp. THere are several ways of building a 2j for an IS. I did 4 differnt setups before I found the one I was happy with. Good luck in your project Here is my list of 2JZ builds: 2003 IS3xx V4.2 Titan Tuned v1.0-2003 Stock 2JZGE VVTi N/A v2.0-1999 JDM Swap 2JZ-GTE VVTi TT v3.0-Built 2JZ GTE VVTi Single Turbonetics BPU v4.0-Built 2JZ GTE non-VVTi Single Schwitzer APU++ |

Hey Japsfinest, Can I ask why you settled on the non-VVTi 2JZGTE? There is a guy here who put a 2JZGTE with VVTi from a Toyota Aristo, and it was a pretty simple engine swap. I was just wondering the benefits of the non-VVTi over the VVTi one. Here is his build thread : http://www.jzx100.com/forum/topic/1656-is3...on/page__st__50 |

I think the VVTi versions aren't as bulletproof as the Non-VVTi models. Plus if your running cams you don't have to worry about the VVTi advance. Simpler engine management, so less headaches. |

Hello Japsfinest, Can I ask where you get the price figures for the gearboxes (specifically the V160)? Are they parts only or do they include labour? How easy is it to find a V160 in NZ? Thanks |

I am not sure of prices or availability in NZ as I am in the USA. I d be more than happy to help anyone source parts in the USa as they are readily available but I am sure shipping to NZ would be extremely expensive. |

In Australia The V160 range from $3500 to $4200au The V161 is from $4200 to $5000au You can get lucky and find Supra conversion for $5000 which includes everything. I find a few kits each year |
