Two reactors at Fukushima are getting too hot with 1000 times normal radiation levels. They have been forced to release radioactive gasses to try to cool the reactors down.

this is frighning really.
the fail-safes... have failed. although aparently if all goes wrong its not another chernobyl. theres all sorts of safeties to stop that happening again

Good read that, from all accounts they are working to re-establish cooling with the help of America so fingers crossed that they can get this under control and cooled back down if not to normal levels at least to a level that is not risking iminent meltdown.

shit...after posting that article, 45,000 people evacuated and reports of an explosion at the powerplant

“It’s a dice roll whether or not the containment will retain its integrity and prevent a large radiological release.”

Shit here's hoping it does hold integrity. I've booked tickets to Tokyo in June and i've got the rest of this month until i cannot change it so ill be watching closely. As long as Tokyo is habitable ill be going but i cant imagine a large scale leak of radioactive gasses or material will help.
