Idling Problem

I have just finished turboing my altezza and while waiting for my Apexi power FC to arrive from the states i decided to start it with the standard ecu.

when i start the car it does not hold idle. When i rev it i can get the car started but i have to hold my foot down to keep it running and even then it has a strange feel to it.

Before installing the turbo setup i had a sc14 supercharger mounted so i took off the inlet manifold alternator etc. and had that half of the engine side off to remove the supercharger and return the alternator to factory position. I have removed all this since and checked everything as i went through to make sure it went into the correct position but i am now stumped as to what it could be.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to try next?

could be any number of things causing it.

check all your sensor wiring to make sure you've plugged everything in, esp around the areas you've removed or fiddled with.
check all your plumbing to make sure you dont have any air leaks. all joints, hoses, lines, anything that could leak on either side of the throttle body and after the afm.
check your bov isnt open or leaking at idle if it is not a plumb back type

what injectors and afm are you using?

standard injectors and AFM as of current. I have caldina injectors to go in with the new ecu but wasn't planning on changing the AFM. Will have a look through all the lines now and see what i can come up with but i am pretty certain everything is plugged in correctly.

cheers

If the battery has been unplugged for a while then it could be the source of rough idle until it works itself out..

But also where is your AFM now? 150mm from the throttle body where it should be? or somewhere else? (because the ecu won't know what to do with it if its not directly before the throttle)

My advice is wait for your ecu to turn up, at least that will have a turbo basemap on it, so won't lean out your engine as much.. when you build boost.

Have you got all the intercooler piping plumbed in or is the MAF still on the Intake to the throttle body?

Having the MAF too close to the turbo will cause issues, Ideally it should be located 150mm before and 150mm after any bends in the piping, same goes for the turbo as it creates alot of turbulent airflow it can mess with the MAF if its too close.

The intercooler piping is all plumbed in and the MAF is back were the standard air box is. and not near a bend in the piping. I think it may be a vac leak or something left unplugged when i removed the supercharger setup so I will have a look over later today.

I actually remember removing it for some reason when i took everything out. I adjusted it and the car is idling now but fluctuating a lot and the engine light comes on. As well as that the traction control is flashing i don't know if that shows something to. Were should my TPS be on the slot and is there a way to fine tune it or should i go to toyota. Cheers
