Hey guys,

I may be in a situation at the end of the year where I may need to move to Aus, so I was just looking for some info about some medical stuff. I understand that in Aus everyone has health insurance to pay for medical care, and that it is automatically taken from your wages, is that correct?? If so then as a NZer do I still qualify for it or will I have to pay for all my health care? And if I have a pre existing medical condition will this be covered by the insurance??

Thanks
Alana :)

According to here, it's covered if you're a NZ citizen:

As far as I've found out medicare is the equivalent of NZ's public system, except you have to apply for it. This stops tourists and temporary visa immigrants getting it, and as Robo said, NZers are automatically allowed to apply.

On top of that many Aussies have private medical like Southern Cross.

You bringing a car??

If you have a RS200 Altezza Bring it. As a personal import you will beable to sell it for more then you will in NZ. The cost of importing it will be painfull though... See other threads for technicalities...

Only one!! This is $2000+ worth of air fares being loaded into the station wagon at Sydney Airport... 5 Abyssinians... You can see why it cost me $30k to move to Aussie!!

Oh my gosh!!! I do actually have two but I think I would only take one with me and leave the other with my parents, although if they have their way I wouldn't be taking any :P

This is all a huge maybe, like I said I'm hoping I can stay in Christchurch!!
