Hi guys, I have an AS200Z auto and am wanting to sell it, and get a rs200 manual. I'm looking at one car on trademe, and tested it today, liked everything except for the exhaust. I believe it is annoyingly loud and I want to know if it is easy to change back to the stock exhaust, a DIY job? Cheers |

Changing the exhaust over is pretty straight forward. I changed NZWar4Life (Matts) exhaust over yesterday, from factory to after-market. Realised after HEAPS of attempts at bolting up the after-market exhaust, that the holes in the flange were too small. Drilled them out and it bolted up sweet. The holes on a factory exhaust WILL be the right size :-) As long as you have a decent jack, some axle-stands, and a 14mm socket-wrench, then changing it back to a factory exhaust is not difficult. Oh, and grease up the rubber exhaust hangers. This will make getting the exhaust off and on much easier. Have a look on TradeMe for a standard exhaust. Just make sure nothing has been cut off (like the flange that bolts to the mid-section :-) Expect to pay between $30 - $150 for a factory exhaust. Or if you can find an HKS Hi-Power Super Silent, a Kakimoto, or a TRD exhaust, then even better

Many thanks for the quick reply! Will have a look around trademe if I end up getting it.. ![]() Am going to test another manual RS later for comparison to the one i tested yesterday, as I've only driven auto RS and I believe the manual and auto RS are not that similar are they?

Performance wise of course the stick will do better job. Some difference that I know so far is that: 1. RS Auto has tiptronic on the steering wheel. AS and /of course/ Manual one doesn't. 2. RS Manual has higher 7800rpm redline vs Auto 7200 (I think) redline 3. Maximum torque in the RS Auto is at 4500Rpm-ish, while the Manual one is somewhat higher. There are very minor interior differences such as the TRC button and SNOW button location, but other than that, it will depend on your preference. Go for a MANual if you're a MAN. |
