Oil In Intercooler And Pipng? Blowen Turbo?; turbo problems

hay guys just got my turbo back from autec rebuilders lokks and feels like new bery happy with it was $500 tho :(

bolted everything back up tonite and its still blowing smoke :( unsure on what to can i go back at subparts and try for a refund or something?

Even though you may have cleaned your piping and manifolds carefully it may take some time for the oil residues to be burnt off -causing smoke. Did you end up putting a restrictor in the turbo oil feed? What kind of oil drain do you have - if that was kinked or too small that can cause probes too.

Oil residues in your intake will cause detonation, if your tune was fine before, as soon as the oil started misting out of your turbo you would have been much more likely to detonate. Oil lowers the effective octane of your fuel.

contacted old owner and he said theres a restricter in there i clean all the intake with petrol so i thought that would have cleaned any residue im not sure do it js drive it for a bit and see what happens?? i nedd ta get a better tune on it now as am running external gate would that stop the smoke??

There will be oil residue hiding everywhere. Most especially in the inlet plenum, did you clean the plenum and runners? get some spray in upper cylinder cleaner and try that - Subaru make a good one that you spray into your inlet while the egine is running.

Are you sure you have an in line oil restrictor? It would be screwed not the cast body of your turbo with the feed line screwed into that.

rinsed it with petrol when i had it all of butdidnt scrub it ae the fitting on the turbo has a 3m/m inlet hole in the side were the feed line screws onto should i pull it out and check?

hay guys good result importer is supplying a new engine under warrenty be hear early next week... went to bring car home from garage today but they said it wont run it starts fine but js stops after about 20sec and for some reason my head unit and boost gauge wont turn on???

any help would be awsome

Checked your fuses? (re the headunit and boost gauge)

If they're fine pull the headunit out and see if you have power there, if not you may have a break in the wire/loose connection.

What ECU are you running?

I don't know if I'm seeing this right as the picture is rather small.... but is that a massive gap on the plugs? Especially the darker one...

tuiman if you read auction its only running 180kw not the 200 i thort really over the smart comments....

If you're in the car and it dies are you able to put your foot on the clutch and pump the accelerator to start it again before the revs completely drop off? If so it sounds like the same problem I've got, and have heard of 3 other people (not including you) have the same thing happen. Common link seems to be the PowerFC so don't know if something gives up in them or what. Mines so intermittent that I can live with it, wont happen for months then for one drive will be dying left right and centre, then the next day will be fine again.

200kw on the factory engine is fine with a good tune, I done it with little to no problems and so have several other people.

wot do u mean it just dies turn your idils up, are you running a map sensor?

Second hand powerfc? Sounds exactly the sane as mine... First started happening at MM09 had me worried at first but now I live with it. If you find a fix that doesn't just involve changing the ecu make sure to let me know!!

Putting the idle up doesn't help either as far as I've found.

hay guys drove car home today from garage wanted to die on me twice in the first 500m then from there to home wich is bout 3km it was fine didnt miss a beat an now i have had it running for 10min js idling away fine??? its got me stump...

this week ned will put new engine in fingers crossed this one dont blow smoke...

the mechanic said that the rings in number three cyl were rooted so i told engine supplier and he said he will send another so thatshow its ended up...

Read my post about the PowerFC again, can't prove it but it sounds exactly like mine and I've tested everything else and had it on the dyno while it's doing it etc and can't see anything else giving problems.

This is just in relation to the dying problem, not to the smokey/[f**k]ed engine.

its real strange ae my mechanic semed to think it mite be a realtion error betwen power fc and the crank angle sensor???

if i run a second head gasket will i need to tetune and will i be able to run some more boost???
