I don't agree in general - and I most definately dont agree with magic values of CR, DCR or boost levels resulting in damage. A lot of things are possible as I said above, with appropriate tuning. We didnt CC the chambers on this motor. Though the piston manufacturer nominates 9.5:1 with everything else being stock specification - which it is not. 2 head reco's would have reduced volume of the combustion chamber increasing the CR. Compression will never limit the boost we stick into it - if detonation occurs it will be because of inappropriate tuning. |

LoL if you think so ![]() When gas is compressed the cylinder heat skyrockets. More compression more heat more chances of pre detonation. Pre detination=bent rods and big end bearings, wait a sec didnt you do your big end recently matt, oh but it was the oil wasnt it Higher the octane the more energy (heat) is required to detonate wich is why race fuels are well over 100 RONIf you mean tuning as in retarding the timing thats just a cheap way of lowering your DCR but this lowers the engines efficieny more then changing the SCR of an equivalent value would. How many thousands of an inch was it skimed Mat? Would result less then 10:1 SCR I bet my money on it because there is no way your making that much power on pump gas with that SCR unless you converted to E85. |

I just got a quote of 1K AUS from ISMR just to change the gasket and do the 100Km service. That doesnt include parts! You shouldnt need to shave the head just make sure its true and that will be enough. I would set aside 1K for labour. Then your going to need two stock gaskets, coolant, oil and everything else you should be doing since you have the head off like timing belt idler pulley, hyd tensioner, water pump and seals. You could also go all out and get your valve stems seals replaced ect.... |

Not enough to notice... Even at 8.5 mine is fine. Don't worry. Just remember the tune will make or break it. Make sure you get someone good to do it. |

How long has the head been off for? Any more then a few days and it will need to be shaved... That exactly it regarding tuning, and dont expect the world from an emanage as they can only do so much. 200Kw is more then achievable with that set up. Just dont be one of the unlucky ones and try to advoid heat soaking your intercooler. If I was you I would be keeping a very close watch on intake temperatures and getting a better water temp guage then the stock "indicator" |
