Does Anyone Know What This Is?; Little pipe

That little pipe, is it to give the ECU warm air from the radiator? Because I decided to remove it after the first PowerFC was fried. The box feels cooler now after driving than it did before. Would anyone know if there is a downside to taking it out?

I would also be interested to know, don't want to fry my pfc as well... I would imagine its intended to receive cool air though.

On an unrelated note.. nice 280t/low mount setup, I'm jealous! Do you have any detailed shots of how the original airbox was fitted? Similar setup to an N/A?

Haha thanks. Its just a pod filter in there, the original owner did it, i guess i must help a little. but that huge pipe across the engine bay, while it may look cool, cant be helping our throttle response.

Yeh I'm running a similar setup at the moment - I was referring to the stock setup if you ever had it... but guess not :)

Hahah the car pretty much came like this. And for the price, it was hard to say no. This one is thin riveted sheet metal. Are you running a turbo? Because the car seems to have a strange bug, its temperature shoots up when you are stopped at a traffic light to over 100. Not much of an issue but the guy who tuned it was really worried until i told him that it always does that.

I think it might be time for a bigger radiator.

Yeh, running highmount GT2871R, stock engine.. Highest temps I've seen stuck in traffic are low 90's.

You do have a big cooler, so perhaps it's heatsoaking a bit easier... wouldn't hurt to check that your radiator fan is functioning properly though?

I figure a constant temp, it warms it up in winter and stops condensation, and pumps 'cool' air in when idling in traffic in summer.

I've just had a headlight relay blow on the KE70, I mounted it facing upwards right up by the strut top, but it still got a puddle of water in it and rusted out. A hot air supply would be nice...

Does anyone know if an extension cable for our ECU exists? Because that would be an easy way to move it.

The fans seem to run fine, but it has a strange setup, they dont turn on, or they run slower when the car is cooler. Not sure if it is adjustable, they don't come in till the engine reaches 100 degrees C.

Yeah that's what i thought, Ive never had a problem with it in the N/A Altezza, i Guess there must be a lot more heat in the 280T's engine bay. The car runs fine without it, its been getting a lot of driving lately.
