Im in the middle to tail end of installing the complete running gear from a 3sge Altezza into my KP61 starlet and just thought I would share a pic with you all (as I dont have a build here). I dont know if any of you have heard of Vapour Blasting but its a way of cleaning alloy, sometimes (IMO), better than factory. I was introduced to it when I had the old 4age20v in my KP and I guess you can say I am now addicted. Anywho - I got Kevin from Vapourblast to give my inlet manifold the once over and jsut thought I would show you all the difference. ![]() Before (early in the install) ![]() Tonight (tail end of the install)

It appears the bonnet will need an interesting shape.... Its a tall engine in that bay. Any more photos? .and it should be a rocketship with only half the weight to move! |

He could do the throttle body but it would require some cleaning afterwards to ensure cleanliness in any piping/tubing. You would need to check with him on pricing. Ive been mates with him for years but I think its pretty reasonable. As for bonnet shape .... see the attachment. Im not quite level as you can jsut see the passengers guard on the other side. As you can see the black cam cover sits just proud against my sons ke36 inthe back ground :P. I havent decided wether to chop that down or bulge the starlet bonnet yet. |

Yeah you can trim that cover pretty extensively to get more room under the bonnet, I trimmed about 15mm from the top of mine, then rebuilt the cover with fibreglass to cover timing belt. Cut the top off (and the section covering the plugs) ![]() Then rebuilt it.. you will also notice a few other changes to suit new cambelt position for the dry sump system.. ![]() Then I added some paint

Finished the intake, clutch and brake resevoirs today. Being that I arent runing TRC, SLIP or ABS I decided to wire the sensor in the brake res to the slip light on the dash cluster to warn me of low fluid level. Works a treat. Then thought i would try the bonnet on to check the clearance before I cut either the bonnet or the covers and to my suprise I dont have to do either. I have about 5mm clearance (thanks to squash foam pads) between the cam cover and the bonnet. (see attached) |
