Ok, just curious. These questions always pass through my head when I start creating a character and when I select someone to RP with. Things that make YOU as a player influence how you RP. So therefore, here is this WONDERFUL community question that will help other maybe understand the reasoning behind certain trends in decisions and actions you make between all of your characters.

~What is your IDEAL character?

The character that your muse constantly creates. He/She, Poor/Wealthy, Tall/Short, Straight/... Curvy (XP). You get the picture. What is he/she's personalty and traits they usually have. Taking this information;

~Who is your IDEAL Associate?
Who do you MOST like to RP with. A Rival, Friend, Slave, Master or maybe something completely different. What traits to they have that make your muse never seem to die down. And on the contrast;

~Which traits make you IRL aggravated?
These are things other characters do that just get you angry. SO ANGRY.. Please.. No names.

Better than "Hit Girl"
Ideal character:
Typically, an aspect of myself. All my characters are/were me at one point. Modrid is my general me character. She reacts like I would react and we share similar backgrounds as mentioned before on the board. Ruin is my confidence. How I act when I'm really super mega happy. Brinley is me when I'm well, bitchy. You get the picture.

Ideal Associate:
Someone who is different enough to make RPing worthwhile, but similar enough for me to relate to. Typically they are smart asses or slightly evil... think Dinah, with her mean streak in torture, and Zack with his misbehaviour. I like it, however, when there are quirks about a character. IE Zack with being blindfolded/wrists tied/touched, Alan with his bottles. Small fetishes are adorable and I like to manipulate them. And fetishes are realistic. Not all of them need to be about sex. Mentioning likes and dislikes are a huge plus for me and the quirkier the better.

Aggravating traits:
A character obviously made for sex. I won't name names. Ya'll know who you are. -glares-

And this isn't a trait of the character, but of the player... Those characters that are written so invulnerable to any sort of attack, be it physical or emotional. I suppose this can be referred to as overpowered... Not much we can do about it, but it aggravates me to no end. There are other traits too that irritate me but without naming names I can't really mention specifics.

Plays: Modrid Brennan | Keally George

~What is your IDEAL character?

More often than not I end up with characters who are very good in at least one or two (sometimes more) fields. Not necessarily because I want to lord it over everyone, but I do want to have something where my characters can really shine, regardless of how often or not it will come up during play. Sometimes I just need that as a focal point for my characters, a skill or trait at the center I can build the character around. And sometimes I just end up with characters like that because I tend to "port over" characters from previous games in one guise or another, so this trend follows me around. Sometimes I also end up playing characters who might be somewhat flawed, but usually are pretty good characters deep down inside who like to help people around them. I guess you could say I tend more to the Gandalf or Galadriel characters than the Aragorns or Frodos.

~Who is your IDEAL Associate?

Sounds like a question about a single person, and I don't actually like that. I like my characters to have more than just one important relationship. One or two friends, maybe a lover, maybe a rival too. I love it when my characters can interact with different characters, cause that is what makes things interesting and leads to more roleplaying opportunities. A real bonus is a character who has some more connections to other characters, so there can develop a ... network of relationships. A singular master/slave relationship can be fun, but I really like to roam a bit farther than that.
When it comes to players, I prefer people who come up with plot ideas, but give me an opportunity to work with them on fleshing them out. I am not that good at coming up with plot ideas, but give me one to work with and my muse really kicks in.

~Which traits make you IRL aggravated?

That really depends. I must admit that sometimes I carry some anger and aggravation around with me from RL when I get down to RPing, and I have been known to blow a fuse over minor things. With me it's also sometimes a matter of not voicing my displeasure at something when I should and then small things add up till a straw breaks the camel's back and I blow a gasket. I know that makes me unpredictable, but it's always been like that with me. Still working on it.

~What is your IDEAL character?

Well, there are attributes that I use often, but that doesn't make up an ideal character. I like characters that have realistic, non-dramatized flaws. People whose money burn a whole in their pocket; that guy down the street that has a penchant for cupcakes - that woman you take classes with that's jaded from past relationships and is much happier alone.

I like character flaws that aren't the end all be all - flaws that characters can function with. In the long run, those are much better to me because they're easier to get along with after your characters solves their issue (if they solve it). High standards with large destinies are a turn off after a while. What do you do with a character after the large destiny is fulfilled? Everything else seems pathetic by comparison.

As far as physical traits - I have a soft spot for magical characters that are done right, and unnaturally colored features. I'm not going to lie - I'm partial to characters that are good looking, but that's not to say that any of the traits I've listed *have* to be present for me to consider it a well made character. I'm capable of discerning well made characters from my personally preferred archetypes. XD

~Who is your IDEAL Associate?
Actually, I don't really have a preference in terms of who inspires me character-wise. More so than that, I would prefer someone skilled enough to be able to turn a boring situation into an exciting one - someone who isn't afraid to RP or take charge of the scenario at hand. Also, chemistry with the RPer outside of the character is important to me. If I don't know or like the person outside of RPing, it's difficult to find motivation to post. However, I want to add that skill with RP is much more important, as I've had plenty of fun with people that I don't know while RPing. I would much rather have someone confident in their own abilities.

~Which traits make you IRL aggravated?
People who boast about skills that they don't have. We're all learning here. No one here is a Master writer. I think it's just best if everyone considers themselves a learner. Some of us have fortes, and some of us are more advanced, but we're all students, all learning.

Those who godmod or powerplay. I'm not okay with it, even when you're having fun in the Cbox, I think that some things are obviously impossible and unrealistic. There are times where you know it's okay to do it, because you're familiar with who you're doing with and they tolerate it, but a lot of people get carried away and direct those sorts of actions toward people they *don't* know, because they've been allowed to do it so often that they've forgotten that it's not proper etiquette. It's even more annoying when someone "claims" it's okay.

Players that exploit loopholes to create terrible characters. Just because you're barely within the confines of the rules doesn't mean that your character isn't full of "deus ex machina" potential, or that you're a decent writer. Especially with EoM, this site is very loose in terms of rules, so I don't see what the benefit would even be doing such a thing. It boils over into frustration when someone boasts about their character being "good" while these flaws and obvious undermining of the rules (even if barely) exists.

People who can't take problems in stride. Everyone encounters issues on this site. It's all in how you deal with them. Needing support is definitely fine, but - as a person who has admin'd on their own site - there are a lot of people who refuse and refute help and support and still continue to complain.

People who can't take things in context,or at least try. Everyone has trouble with this at some point, but it's irritating when it happens over and over again with the same person and the same related or similar comments. Everyone isn't after everyone else. When someone says something, it may not necessarily be that no one likes you - what if someone is just being honest? It's very possible. Even if you receive a few negative comments, assuming things about people isn't the way to go. When you assume, my mother always told me, you make an "ass" out of "you" and "me".

Unwillingness to be friendly to someone just because you don't like their RP style. I don't care who you are, but we are all human beings and we all deserve to be treated with respect. We're not all going to agree on everything, but you can at least be kind to everyone. That is someone that EVERYONE has control over themselves with. There's very rarely an appropriate excuse to be outright mean to someone.

Those who can't accept things the way that they are. If someone *does* say "Hey, I'm not really fond of you" or "Hey, I'm not really a fan of some of your writing, because..." It's not something to cry about. You don't need to get all haughty or act as though the other person's opinion isn't meaningful. Them not liking your writing or your interaction with others, as I stated above, is no reason to be mean to another person. We're all adults. We're all able to function with people who don't like us. Life prepares us for that, and this is a gathering of mostly random people. Not everyone is going to like you. Some people probably don't like you and you don't even know it, because they're sensible human beings and they know how to treat other people.

*I would like to note, before anyone else gets carried away, that I'm not talking about just one person - although that should be obvious. Not even most of these is only about one person, and some are just things I've come across during my RP life.

-My IDEAL character:
It's funny, The character I usually like to play does not even come close to who I am in real life. I love playing the 'squishy' to another character. You know, the friend you aren't really that close with, but you feel you can talk to if you can't talk to anyone else. I also like building a underlying crush with characters who don't exactly like my Character the same way.

His Personality is a little avante garde, and he has quirky little things that he does that make him almost tip over that thin line between socially acceptable and insane. If I could describe him in two words, it would be 'Little Brother'. He tends to look up others, and mimics them. He likes when they talk to him, and he likes to crush on them.

My characters always tend to be short, I guess its just because I'm tall (6' 1") and I always wanted to be short XD. I also seemed to choose abstract races... Guess it's just who I am. I like races with tails, and although I have been trying to restrain myself, beware because when may come soon.

-The IDEAL Associate:
Taller than my character, dominate, intelligent. I like them independent, because my characters sometimes are not. More importantly, I like them NOT, to be all about sex. I love RPing sex threads when, and only when the two characters have been through a lot, so it makes them stronger. Otherwise, I just tend to lose muse fast.

I like them to be witty, and a little snappy or mean. I also am more drawn towards two-faced characters. You know, the ones who really like you, maybe even love you, but not around others. Around others, they treat you like crap.

-Aggravation:
I'm with Ruin on the invincible players. I do NOT like them at all.

Next, and MOST importantly is. SINGLE-MOTIVE players. Character that are bad, and only bad, get me frustrated. Most of all, I HATE DO-GOODERS. You could stab this person, kill a man, or try you ABSOLUTE hardest to get something other than a compliment or a 'It's ok, hunnie.' out of them, but it never works.

I'm going to take the liberty to be the first person to post a response to someone else's post:

Amen. Seriously. Evil for the sake of being evil is not only frustrating - it's bad character creation. Not every villain is clinically insane and therefore has no motivation. I'm more so angered by this in commercial media than anything else, actually; lots of books and movies and comics have been displaying the same thing with villains for years, and it's...disheartening as a writer.

This same problem persists with heroes and protagonists, but not as often in commercial media than in recreational writing and RPing. It's the same problem, but they're prevalent in different mediums. It's like...you can't win? XD
