A thread for all of us to add descriptions of and/or links to places we have used in our stories and threads, to help us keep track of things and offer some small details for others to use in their threads.

Posts don't have to have a specific format, but please make it obvious and easy to spot what a certain place is.

Also, please use one post for all the places you introduce and edit when more needs to be added, i.e. one post per player, not per character.

Cafe: Maralino's - First mentioned when Dinah met Brinley.

A cafe not far from the mall, but hidden in a side street. Wicker chairs, light colors, wooden tables. Serves some of the best coffee in town, plus cakes, and some warm food during the afternoon and evening. The perfect spot to escape the hustle and bustle of the city for a moment and relax in a calm and friendly place.

Italian Restaurant: Alfredo's - Italian restaurant visited by Marie and Cursico

A restaurant somewhere in an average part of town, not too far from the hole in the wall Cursico uses to get to the forest. Authentic Italian cuisine.

Dempsey's: High-end department store - (not mentioned in-post yet, but soon will be)

Designer pieces, the latest fashion, handbags, shoes, cosmetics. Think of it as the equivalent of Bloomingdale's or Bergdorf and don't enter without a very fat wallet. Located on the corner of Fifth and Sacks.

Truck Station: The Fast Lane Convenience and Tavern - Truck rest stop visited by Modrid, Jarek and Gareth

A lonely gas station and rest stop about 30 mins out of the city. On the major highway. Features convenience store with attached tavern, which sells burgers and other homemade-style foods, and alcohol. Features a single pool table, jukebox and dart board.

Campgrounds - Morning Glory Campsite and Cabin Rentals [same thread as above]

On the shore of Kaministiqua River, several cabins litter a wide breadth of area. Every cabin has plumbing with a small kitchen and working appliances, but appliances are small and minimal (ie. hot plate stove, mini fridge, and pots and pans with plates and cutlery provided). In each cabin plot there is a deep bonfire pit between the river and the cabin with old wooden benches around it. The bonfires are encased in concrete bricks and there is an old metal grate over the top so you can cook burgers, etc. on it. There are metal rods to assist in cooking. Inside the cabin are two small bedrooms, each furnished with a double bed. The bedrooms are small and aside from a dim wall light and the bed there is a nightstand and small upright dresser. The window faces East in one, and North on the other. The den is small as it is shared with the kitchen in the same room. Lumpy sofa adorns the room with no television or phone. The floors are hardwood and there is a god-awful ugly knitted rug between the lumpy sofa facing the East bayed window and the small, round kitchen table. The cabins are log cabins and the bathroom facilities are hardly modern, with only a low-water toilet and no shower or bathtub. It is assumed the river would be your bath. Behind the cabins (about a two minute walk), there is is a communal fire shelter where you chop your own wood(logs are provided). A thick line of trees separate individual cabin plots to provide a sense of solitude.

Love is cursed by Monogamy
Brothel: Oscar's Pit: The brothel that Deveraux visited frequently as a young man (very young - between his 20s - 50s, and spotted drop-ins every few years afterward).

There's nothing really special about this hole in the wall. It resides between the slums and the downtown area, avoiding the most dangerous types of crimes but somehow dimming the downtown area it sits near. The prized slave at the establishment is Natasha, a weak nymph owned by Oscar and has been passed down to his second nephew, Pete, who is now the person running the establishment. The logo for "Oscar's" is a robust peach. The place has two floors with long corridors, hosting several rooms for "servicing".

Recreational Feature: Blossom Ranch: Where Dev and Wren worked; also where Modrid and Dev went on their second date.

A very large ranch holding over forty horses. This establishment offers riding lessons, accepts bids for breeding and also offers free-riding and trail-riding. The ranch is large, featuring general holding stables as well as separate locations for care-taking of both stallions and mares. There is also a dressage arena, and occasionally the ranch hosts contests in that area. The business is co-owned by Blossom, from whom the name was taken, and Deveraux Dixon, an equine connoisseur and investor. It is important to note that the ranch is on a large expanse of property that includes secluded forest area. There are, actually, wild horses who run near the premises - part of the goal of the ranch is protect the land it stands on by prohibiting the taming of wild horses in that particular area.

Shop: Commisceo: The store Deveraux visited when he met Nyssa and Ilzt'rak for the first time. It is commonly referred to as "The Apothecary", as it is the only one of such a large size within the city.

The meaning of the name is "To mix thoroughly/properly". Although the store was constructed in a older, archaic style (suitable to the stereotype of apothecaries), the owner, a dwarf named Howell, is quite tech savvy. He offers introductory classes on mixing and potions-making, and is very helpful to those who are looking for ingredients. The store houses a few magical rarities in addition to potions ingredients, and has an excellent stock of tomes for tutelage beyond the introductory level. This store is located in the heart of the city, and, despite its looks, is heralded is the best apothecary in the general area.

Restaurant: Le Roi: The bistro visited by Deveraux, Ilzt'rak and Nyssa just after they encountered one another.

This particular restaurant serves an extensive variety of tea and coffee, which are their specialty. Outside of drinks, creative sandwiches are their forte. On the menu they also serve salads, soups and minimal meat dishes. They is also a breakfast menu consisting of waffles and silver dollar pancakes. A high-end bistro, their colors are a dark maroon which gives the polished wooden seating and tables a high quality look, and eggwhite, with golden accents. The logo for this bistro is a small crown, usually in gold. Their table cloths are representative of their colors and logo:

"a cute, polished table of dark wood, covered with a eggwhite tablecloth, the edges embroidered with a cute pattern that Deveraux knew by heart: accented stitches in a maroon shade, that golden crown (still small) present on all four corners". - Mix and Match

Restaurant: Shalimar: Shar and Deveraux went on a date there.

This Indian restaurant offers a very different flavors than typically found in the streets of the City. This restaurant specializes in Tandoori dishes, cooked in a clay oven. A middle class restaurant, this establishment offers a more sophisticated feel for a more economical price. Most dishes are prepared with chicken, although there is also a large selection of vegetarian dishes on the menu as well. This business sits in the middle of its block, and the ambiance of watching passersby through the large front window is part of its charm.

Fine Arts Feature: City Opera House: Where Deveraux and Modrid had their first date.

A large but humble building from the outside, the Opera House is a large marble structure that contains much more colorful decoration inside. There is one grand hall, but several dinner and small performance rooms scattered about the structure. It spans several levels and allows for both balcony and box seating.

"a large, unassuming building constructed from marble on the outside, the title of the establishment at the top of the main section in glossy, carefully cut black letters. The marble was dark, reflecting the sky outside and lights illuminating the black letters. It was a spectacular effect, even though it was rather plain in nature".

"They would have time to walk around a bit (if it was possible) so that he could show her the beautiful architecture. It would be difficult to miss, and it more than made up for the building's unassuming exterior". - The First Date

Specialty Shop: The Crystal Wyrm: The shop where Deveraux bought matching chandeliers for Dinah and Lucian's Engagement party.

This is one of those places that does exactly what one would infer - The proprietor crafts crystalline gifts and , novelties with crystal incorporated into them. Most popular are trinkets related to lighting and glowing, but a person who was specific enough and knew more about the conduction power of crystals could request much more. Crystals of different types can also be bought, sold and traded in this establishment.

The mascot for this shop is indeed the same as the name: an older dragon, standard chromatic red, sitting atop a pile of crystals and looking quite please with himself. The door of the establishment is red. Both the doorknob and wide-pane viewing window at the front of the shop are hewn crystal, carefully shaped and magically secured.

List of other locations I have to write things for:

Gaijin Kingdom - high scale "asian" cuisine.
Allons-y - high-end custom tailored suits
Pet-co - pet store in the mall.
