Pat: “Don’t worry, Steve. I’m not going anywhere. Not like I could unless I really want to have the bad type of fun.” I rolled my eyes as I was going through the bi-weekly check on the ankle bracelet that had become my newest accessory. After what had been a long and questionable affair, especially with regards to the morals, Patrick James Evans had found himself largely unemployed and under house arrest. The holder of a PhD in Canadian History had found himself now stuck in his small apartment spending most of his days enjoying his welfare cheques, having groceries delivered to him and in order to save on the cost of cable, watching old wrestling footage and largely downloading items of his basic internet connection. Hardly the glamourous life. Steve, the police tech that was summoned to double-check the items watched Pat as he sat on his old lazy-boy, watching him as he sat at the kitchen counter behind the sink, re-initializing the bracelet. Pat: “You do realize that I could probably easily assault you right now.” Steve just glanced up. Despite Pat’s bitterness to the situation, the young tech was less threatened simply because over the course of the last six months, he had gotten a sense for Pat’s cynical sense of humour and was perfectly prepared to joust back. Steve: “And if you do, then you’d spend your days counting the brick walls in your cell. My guess is the porn on your computer is far more entertaining.” Pat: “Please.” Steve: “Nothing to be ashamed about it. Now if you got it delivered, that would be a bit more problematic.” Pat: “You’re really making me tempted to test your response.” Steve: “You know you’d hate to give this all up.” Pat just scoffed. Steve: “Seriously. I know you’re on welfare. I don’t see any old bills. You do what you want. You live alone. Sure, that can suck, but I doubt you really care about any sort of companionship. I don’t see you missing watching the fights at the bar down the road.” Pat: “Because I used to be in some…well…not MMA…but wrestling.” Steve: “I figured as much. Seen the tapes. Not a fan. But whatever to make a buck.” Pat: “Yeah…” Pat smirked, just thinking to himself. Things professionally had been much better a year and a half ago when he had IWC to give him something to release with. He had managed to at least find something to not only enjoy, but have some pride in. Sure, some of the people there were assholes, but he had respect. He had skills. He was making money. Personally though, things were as far from good. Engaged in litigation regarding trespassing, slander and libel by ending his former girlfriend’s academic career after she elected to have an abortion, not realizing that in all likelihood, the child was Pat’s after a night of drunken sex that neither remembered and only Pat recalls getting out of bed prior to her waking up. While Beth, the ex-girlfriend, and her family had realized that was nothing more than both being inhibited, and were not willing to press matters there, something confirmed by their lawyers, due to the fact that it was he-said, she-said and no way to prove otherwise, they were less willing to accept the fact his brother had been left with a broken leg after trying to attack Pat after one of the sessions where Pat made a few snide comments. That conciliatory attitude further lessened when Pat knocked out her father by tripping him up against his car. The whole ordeal led to Pat having to pay a small settlement, which they were happy to get, sign a restraining order, preventing him from going to the nearby university’s library due to the location of the history department where she was able to return, only if she paid her own way, and finally deal with the aftermath of any criminal proceedings. Those criminal proceedings left him with a criminal negligence, two counts of assault causing bodily harm and a house arrest bracelet keeping him in his house for a year, unless he had professional business to take care of or a family emergency. He was on month six. Steve had let himself out as Pat just continued to watch footage of an old Majestic Wrestling show from several summers ago. Nathan Kaye was awkwardly responding to Jesse James, a female wrestler that never really went anywhere while Nathan Kaye ended up being a future SCW U.S. Champion…before falling off the face of the planet. Pat, with the bracelet safely placed around his ankle, headed over to his computer as the match continued to play in the background. Waiting a few moments before finally connecting, Pat Evans tried to look around for anything. The itch to return to the ring was always there, but it was never necessarily worth it. He was big enough that he could ask for a bit more cash, but not necessarily enough to get travel expenses covered and without an itinerary, the hassle of arranging for an exception to his house arrest was rarely worth it. But being the wrestling historian that he was, he had overheard some of the rumblings coming out of Supreme Championship Wrestling. Commonwealth Wrestling was hardly worth much of a thought. Majestic Wrestling had caught his eye only for some of the names on their roster. But again, the house arrest made any sort of long-term arrangement simply untenable. Other promotions, local ones, had booked him for some shows here and there, only for him to take care of the itch. They were a special attraction and he’d return home, a few hundred dollars richer, but never enough more to really make a dent in any issues with welfare. But there was one matter he was willing to threaten his lifestyle for…the God of Wrestling Tournament. The tournament was viewed well within many circles with several promotions sending talent. Most importantly to him though was the opportunity to be put on the same playing field as many of them. Win or lose, that mattered less. It was the spotlight. The additional spotlight could lead to additional perks and thus should he want to compete, it would be easier to do so outside of the confines of a thirty minute cab ride. After taking a few moments, Pat took a deep breath, grabbing his cell phone and dialing a number. He waited a few moments. “Good afternoon, Parole Services here. How may I help you?” Pat: “This is Patrick James Evans. I am one of the individual under house arrest assigned to you. I need to arrange an exception for professional purposes.” “Please hold…” -------- God of Wrestling has returned and so has all of the prestige, the competition and the will and desire to win. The fact of the matter is that this is not a tournament to be taken lightly. Those who are new to it, including myself, will quickly learn that mistakes will prove costly and those who have experienced it, know they will have a long road ahead should they hope for victory. Fortunately, I am here not necessarily for victory, although that prize for winning would taste quite sweet, I am here for something else…the prestige of simply taking part in such a collection of talent and most importantly, I don’t intend to make an early exit. Many of the talent assembled in this tournament, I have some history with in some way, shape or form. I know of what Jake Starr is capable of as he and I have crossed paths while I was under the employ of Independent Wrestling Cartel. Katie Steward, I know much of the same when she was attempting to commentate on the product and lording over any who could possibly listen to her shrieking voice. There are others like Shaun Cruze whom I have a storied past with not only him but his brother and I’m sure should we ever cross paths, another classic will take place and one that I’m quite confident will be prefaced with him reminding me of his and his brother’s successes over me. But therein lies the beauty of this tournament. What has happened in the past may really not mean much at all. Outside of the mental edge, something that really is inconsequential to someone of my intellect, this is neutral ground for many and those in Majestic have the additional pressure of needing to push back any challenge from outsiders. Their own championship gold could be threatened otherwise. A couple nobody…a new face…a young stud could come in and shock all. Whoever can amount to a hot streak may have the best opportunities. There I may have some difficulties as it has been over a year since I wrestled regularly, but it is a challenge I am not only very aware of, but I am more than willing to take on. And I begin my rise by facing the young gun of Xavier Magnus, who has recently joined the ranks of Supreme Championship Wrestling, immediately gaining friendship from my old rival and angered other rivals of mine, in Adam Allocco. Congratulations, you did what all wrestlers should strive for and that is create an impact. But now, you need to build off of it and I know you would like nothing more than to run back to the Land of Supreme claiming that you are a God of Wrestling. It would befit many of the other claims you make, such as that you are a descendant of Zeus. But I hope that you have turned a keen ear to your ally in Shaun Cruze as I’m sure he can help you out while he’s not working on his own success in this tournament. Perhaps you may not want to listen to his advice if he wants to see you fail early. I would be the easier draw for him at the finals of our bracket. The Immortals Bracket…I can only smirk at again the irony, given your claims of lineage should you lose. But he can tell you a lot about me…at least the old me…the one who managed to reign as Tag Team Champions with Axl Evermore…the man who held the IWC Submission Championship on a number of occasions and he may point out that should I get to the finals of our bracket and beyond, I become only that much more dangerous given the roles that submissions play. But don’t worry, I may be speaking far too much about the future, it is just as apt for our match when we meet each other in only a few days. I know of your skills and you are no slouch in that ring. You’re able to throw kicks with the best of them. You’re able to throw people with the best of them. Unfortunately, I don’t know if you’re able to handle it when someone catches those kicks and twists your ankle or sneaks out of your waistlock and quickly starts to tweak your arm. I may have the limitations in my striking, but my grappling is second to few and any who have stood across the ring from me have respected that and for good reason. Be reckless and arrogant at your own discretion; just do not cry when you realize how easily a poor decision can be made in that regard against me! I may know little of your work. Only some from that I’ve seen on Supreme Championship Wrestling and the occasional watching I have of Commonwealth, but at the same time, I’m confident you’re in a similar boat that you’re unaware about what I truly bring to the table and at most, can only lean on a few select people. I can only lean on a few select matches and appearances I’ve had the ability to review. But when you get to that ring, are you able to read a person as quickly as me? Are you able to immediately gauge someone’s hesitation and aggressiveness? Are you able to sense what strategy someone will employ? And most importantly, can you adapt? I have confidence in my abilities in all of those areas. What about you Xavier? Oh…and I’m confident about something else…I can make you tap. |

It had only been a few days since Xavier had moved his new assistant from boobs and booty to business but she had handled the transition easily. It appeared that she was truthful when she had talked about her work experience at her father's company. Its almost sad but he had expected her to be lying because he expected most people to lie that is what they do. Xavier sips on a coke zero as he signs some paper work that Rebecca has pushed in front of him. As she takes away the stack she looks back at him. He catches her eye and in it he sees a hint of concern. Do you ever think that you are taking to much on at once? Rebecca asks Xavier as she prepares the travel arrangements for Majestics tournament What do you mean? Well from Vegas to Japan and from Japan back to the states with 3 matches within a couple of weeks seems a bit much to me. I appreciate the concern Rebecca and it would probably too much on my plate if I had to handle all of the travel stuff and keeping in contact with Ramos on our business ventures but since that is what you do my only concern is one match at a time so no I am not taking on too much. Well I worry. Wouldn't want something to happen to you. Well don't even if I break my neck I will still pay you whatever Ramos promised. Xavier laughs and Rebecca punches his arm a little harder than playfully and shoots Xavier a look of hurt I said I was worried about you not your money. Xavier sighs It was a joke. I am sorry. You should be, but its okay because you are going to buy me lunch. Xavier smirks. Rebecca was tough and he respected that. Isn't it a bit late for lunch? Yeah it is actually, because my boss is a real slave driver he doesn't even give me time to get lunch, and plus if I said you were taking me to dinner that would sound unprofessional and like a date, and you sir are definitely not taking me on a date. I wouldn't dream of asking Rebecca. I leave the human resource complaints to Leiland, I myself prefer to be a perfect gentleman. Sure, if full fledged ego maniac and bullshitter are part of being a gentleman then you have it down. Well wherever you were thinking for lunch better have a value menu after that... Jeez you cry more than a girl. but value menu...Heck no. I am thinking sushi. I'd kill for a dragon roll right now and I keep a purse full of sharp objects so let's go. Alright, but you are driving Why? Because, I am definitely going to need a drink. Well in that case we better call a cab because I was thinking the exact same thing. Here I thought hiring an assistant was supposed to make things run smoother than before. It does, but my shift ended 10 minutes ago. Unless you want to pay me overtime? Well aren't you just clever. We better go before I change my mind Xavier smiles. Rebecca returns one, but there is a warmth in hers a genuine good in her that pours out of her. It was impossible not to like her and trust her. Whether or not that would bode trouble for him Xavier didn't know yet, but she had been working hard and earning her keep thus far and she had more than earned some sushi. Your screen explodes like a bomb hit your television. Out of this artificial wreckage you see A MAGNUS PRODUCTION...In association with..... SUPREME CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING ..... COMMONWEALTH WRESTLING ... NEW ERA WRESTLING ..... AND ..... MAJESTIC WRESTLING PRESENTS.... XAVIER MAGNUS, SON OF OLYMPUS .... GOD OF WRESTLING A lightning bolt hits the God of Wrestling font and it to explodes and the screen goes black God of Wrestling. Has a nice ring to it don't you think? The scene opens and we are greeted by the presence of SCW/CW's and recently NEW's Xavier Magnus. One could say he likes to keep busy balancing a touring schedule for three promotions, but Xavier Magnus loved the thrill of competition. It was what drove him to be successful in this sport. When he saw the offer from Majestic to come compete against the top prospects from multiple companies it was a no brainer. As he competed in 3 of the 5 promotions heavily involved it was almost just another day at the office for the former NEW heavyweight champion and current CW New England title holder. Today in the office Xavier is standing before the camera with a Majestic Wrestling t shirt and a pair of faded blue jeans. He appears poised and confident as he begins to speak. First off I would like to state that I feel very honored and priveldged that Alloco has invited and allowed me to compete on his stage for such a prestigious honor. I myself know that there is tons of talent in this tournament. Wrestlers of various and multiple skill sets all masters of their craft so at the end of this the winner can without a doubt claim to be the only wrestling god on earth. I know that might come as a dissapointment to the "lord of the ring" Pete, but this tournament is where someone can forge a legacy. Xavier wanted to cement a legacy and while several of the people in this tournament were here for just that Xavier intended to cash in a title shot if it was his. He always looked for that prize. Xavier was here to prove he was the best and that meant not backing down from any challenge. My opponent is very silent and while some would claim that he is somewhere shivering in fear or he was one of those types that dare not open his mouth until he had something to counter I will not. None of that matters, this is a business based on action and sometimes saying the least can be enough. Looking at his resume Pat is a very tough competitor with two Submission title wins, several IWC main events and even an SCW tag team title run to his credit. Pat also fashions himself an outcast and has been on record to say that he wears black to show his lack of faith in everything. He has become a non believer and to paraphrase no church in the wild if what is a God of Wrestling to a non believer that doesn't believe in anything at all. I have also heard that Pat is using this tournament to test the waters for a comeback in this business. I give the guy credit he has a lot of balls to throw himself into a tournament of top tier talent in order to test his readiness for a comeback. I honestly fear for him a little. Has he bitten off more than he can chew? I indeed think so. If a man has a lack of faith in everything how can he believe in himself. If he is only testing to see if he is ready how can he be in the mind set to win. I can assure any of my opponents today, tomorrow or a year from now. If you see my name on the card it isn't because I am trying to decide if I want to do this. You will see my name because I have dedicated 100% of my heart body and soul to this match and I am stepping in with one goal and that is to win. I will not waste your time with tests of my mind and condition I will leave that to my sparring partners. So this may be a tad counter productive for myself but I feel as a sportsman I owe you this piece of advice Pat. Before you get to the arena. Hell before you even book your flight you need to decide if this is what you want career wise. Think long and hard to see if you have what it takes inside mentally and physically to compete with the very best. Because if you don't you will get destroyed. I don't say that with arrogance Pat I really don't. I say it with certainty. You see because I am not preparing for a man unsure of his convictions. I am preparing for a multi time champion coming to tear my achilles tendon apart. So I promise you once again I am coming full throttle and if you don't do the same with everything you are the only thing that I will leave in that ring is you flat on your back. Xavier doesn't laugh, he doesn't even smirk. His eyes smolder with a determination. He takes this tournament very seriously and while there is tons of intriguing match ups and just people like Ace Marshall that he would love to beat the hell out of Xavier is painfully aware of the one step at a time process and his opponent was one step he was not going to over look Rumor has it that some of my colleagues from NEW have had some negative wishes for me and that is to be expected. James Stall's is the one that sticks out to me the most. You see I take great offense to comments on my ability from a man who's biggest claim to fame is his sweet tooth. James has gone on record claiming he can't wait to face the man that knocks me out of the first round. That arrogance, that bittnerness will be his downfall. I wish no ill will toward my colleague as I only hope that I get to face the best that this tournament has to offer and with the bracket that I am in I know that as long as I keep my head above whatever I will be getting exactly what I asked for. I promise you at the end of the night Majestic Wrestling will feel just as priveldged to have me in this tournament as I am honored to be invited in the first place Now Xavier smiles a cool collected smile. He is prepared for a war both mentally and physically. Much like Kratos' ascension to God of War Xavier was sure his path to God of Wrestling would be equally challenging and bloody, but he wouldn't have it any other way for what is a title that you haven't fought to earn. For now Xavier would cut the camera and continue his strict regiment. Preparation was the key to victory and Xavier was going to make sure he was ready for everything |

As Xavier is exiting the airstrip he is stopped by a media personality. Xavier have you heard the comments of Pat Evans and does it change your opinion of him at all? There is one thing that stuck out to me. he claimed that he isn't in this tournament with victory being a neccessity.I take great offense to that. So many talented wrestlers all over the world were rejected from this tournament for a man that isn't in it to win it? You ask if I can read someone's aggressiveness in the ring? If I can make the right mental decisions? I can tell you that I am here for one reason and that is to win and constantly push myself to be the best and better than I was the last time. You do not become the best by not trying to win. So don't worry about my mental state sweet cheeks I am ready to go. As far as if you catch my kicks and punches and twist my arm or leg will I break? Maybe. Will I tap? No. The thing with catching kicks and punches is you have to be faster than the person throwing them. However this is wrestling and not an exhibition so rest assured that once again that your assumptions will serve you poorly. I will not fight the fight that you want, I will not fight the fight you expect. I will fight the fight it takes to win because that is what I am here for. It is sort of sad Pat, because for a guy that is the former submission champion it seems like part of you has already tapped out on me. I wish you the best of luck. You need it. Xavier flashes a pearly white smile, but his eyes betray that smile. His eyes burn with a cold rage. He was angered by Pat Evans comments. Not enough to throw him off his game, but enough to motivate him to push harder to prove that if you didn't come to Majestic to win this with everything in your body and soul then you have already indeed lost. There was nothing more he could say. Now it was time to settle it in the ring. |
