Talk about the strangest games Nintendo has ever made! Offical site links, interviews with Itoi, random fanrants, codes for Gameshark, Game Genie, and Pro Action Replay, swap tips, ect.

MOTHER/Earthbound(original English game)/Earthbound Zero
(text from opening)
In the early 1900s, a dark shadow covered a small country town in rural America. At that time, a married couple mysteriously vanished from their home.
The man's name was George. The women's name was Maria. (this came before Sonic Adventure 2, being on the NES in 1989!)
Two years later, as suddenly as he left, George returned. He never told anyone where he had been or what he had done. But, he began an odd study, all by his self.
As for his wife Maria, she never returned.

So, in 1981, you are a kid called Ninten, and on a fine summer day in Podunk, you're reading some random book in your house. But all of a sudden, your lamp attacks!!!!! BUM BUM BUM BUUUUUUUUUUMMMMM!!!!!!!! (this us not the weirdest moment in the game.) But as you struggle through this ordeal, and succed, you find the WHOLE HOUSE IS GOING NUTS! So, you go into your sister's room, and see her doll floating and her cowering on the floor. As you defeat it (and she blubbers about how you killed her dolly) the phenominon stops... for now. As you inspect the doll, a music box falls out...
"Take a melody...." and then it breaks. It appears to be at least 60 years old. But the song sticks with you somehow, and no, not in the way where you want to stab your head with a knife due to "Babies" being played millions of times over in your head. So you go downstairs, and the phone rings. Your dad, who has been away at work for quite some time on a buisness trip, appears completly imformed of the inceident, dut to Mom calling him. He tells you that your Great Grandfather George may have something to help with this, having studied PSI, and you should go downstairs to the basement, where he had his study. BUT OF COURSE, it's locked. After retriving the key from your dog who stands up on his hind legs (see attachment) you go down into the dark study. After finding George's notebook, (your GG) you learn the secret of PSI, and everything that George had learned about it... so Ninten sets off on an epic adventure, alongside his friends (found later in the game, one in Canada) Loid, Ana, and Teddy to bring down the evil that is Giegue, (what happened to George and maria was apperently in the diary,) and along the way fighting Hippies, Hillbillys, cars, robots, and rope!!!!!!

Earthbound/MOTHER 2
The year is 199X. In a small town known as Onett (in the Guiness Book of World Records for Roadblocks, according to the Onett Police Force in the Japanese version, or MOTHER 2) a yound boy named Ness is sleeping soundly in his bed, when a LOUD CRASH IS HEARD!!!! Presently, you hear police sirens (literally) and you go to investigate. Your mom tells you to at least get dressed, so, TAH DA!!! off you go! When you reach the site, you meet your friend, Pokey Minch, kinda a jerk, but he has abusive parents. Anyways, he tells you that he will tell you more in the mourning, and the police have roadblocked the site of the crash (a meteor) so you go off to bed. But at 1:00 AM, you hear a strange knock... which turns out to be Pokey!
"Ness, you.. you gotta help me! Um, I wasn't paying attention when I was at the meteor with Pickey and when I looked back, Pickey was gone! It's not my fault at all! It's the officers! Ohhhhh, when I get home I know I'm gonna get it... YOU'RE my bestest friend, Ness, will you help me? PLEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAASSSSSSEEEEEEEEE???!!!" ( you have to agree) So you find Pickey at the meteor, but as you try to leave, Pokey hears a buzzing sound...
"A BEE!!!!"
But, the meteor opens and,
"A BEE!"
"I bee I am... not. I'm from 1000 years in the future, where all is devastation..."
WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF MOTHER 3!!!! In the Nowhere Islands, in Tazmilly Village a family sets out for their grandpa's house! AWWW!!! Lucas, Claus, and Hinawa leave Flint for a couple days, because Flint and Boney have to take care of the sheep. But, when they decide to leave Grandpa Alecs, disaster strikes. A strange group of men known as "pigmasks" seem to be bombing the Sunshine Forsest!

LOL, Smokey. Anyways, in short, the people of Tazmilly notice that Hinawa, Lucas, and Claus should be back by now... and Fuel (a boy) is trapped in the burning forest.... so Flint and a fireman named Thomas set out to save Fuel... and SUCCED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But, where's Hinawa? Upon returning home, Flint notices a pidgen... with a letter from Hinawa... the villagers begin a frantic search... but when they come to a dead end, it's DUSTER TIME!!!
Yeah, no more spoilers, because M3 is VERY sad with spoilers.... so...
PIE!!!!!!!!
Yeah, have to find the pics again. I'll do it when I have the time.... or not...

Earthbound was certainly quirky, but I'd hardly call it Nintendo's strangest.

Anyway, out of all the bunch Mother 3 interests me most (stupid SSBB...). Unfortunately, I'll never get the opportunity to play it properly on a SNES, so yeah.

MOTHER 3 was for GBA...
It WAS supposed to be for N64, but the team had limited 3D knowladge, but I thought the 3D was pretty good.

^ Well then that puts the final nail in the coffin; never will I be able to play it in proper SNES glory. XD

I'm not sure what exactly was the problem had with 3D; the animation itself or actually coding a 3D game, but if it was the later I think they could have just ported the SNES engine and kept the game as a faux-3D overhead adventure like the originals... only the models would be *movie announcer voice*in 3D!.

However, I suppose that wouldn't be as awesome as a proper "behind the back" 3D Earthbound game. Here me, Nintendo? 3D Earthbound game. It must be done.

I wouldn't. As far as I can tell, it's as equally bizarre as a guy in a nightcap and dress who fights a giant pig and a plumber who grows by eating mushrooms in order to jump on a turtle.

It's a joke, don't take things so literal. And yes, Link's cap is awesome, but admittedly odd. It's one of the key reasons a live-action/super realistic Zelda game would look incredibly awkward. Not like that's a bad thing, a super realistic anything can look awkward if that anything has even slightly cartoony aspects.

The term "prejudiced" would not be correct in this instance. Prejudice means judging something before actually knowing what it is (hence the pre+justice construction). I've played Zelda games before (in fact, its my favourite series), so I can say whatever I want about it so long as I give reasoning.

[/grammar nazi]

I don't know when it was made, but I'd guess the series started in the early 90s...
