Ah, pet simulators... Usually a piece of crap that little girlies will enjoy, however, the Nintendogs franchise has been a huge success, millions have brought the game and have just loved looking at those cut little puppies.

Nintendogs + Cats is a brand new sequel which introduces a few new features such as improved graphics, kitty cats (Awwh... Bless!) and some new contests, however, it is not as entertaining as the original

So here is how the game works; you wash your dogs, you feed your dogs, you play with your dogs, you torture your dogs, you train them to do well in contests, you tickle them, you annoy them, you brush them and you take them for walks. Fun eh? Well it's fun but the problem is some quirks.

The addition of cats in my opinion is rather pointless, many were hoping that they would be a rival to the dogs but guess what guys?

They're expensive, They can't be chosen as your first pet, They can't be entered into contests, they usually ignore your calls because they are stupid, they can't be taught tricks and you can't take them for walks...

A few contests return including the Disc throw and the Obedience Trial, the new one is called the Lure Coursing which involves your dog chasing some weird lure thing. What annoys me is that they take Archie out. I used to laugh at his stupid commentating and now they take him out? Come on Nintendo, have a joke.

The Walks are quite fun, especially when doing it spot pass. On your walks you'll have the option to visit gyms, parks and beaches to train for the Lure Coursing and Flying Disc competitions, many old-school things such as presents, garbage and even random dogs you never heard off return here.

You can also talk to Random Mii's on here and your dog will get to meet there dog, sometimes your dog will like the other dog and be good mates and sometimes it will hate the other dog and want to murder it.

You can take your dogs for walks literally using a function known as the "pedometer", it can be quite useful since it can get you piggy banks, toys and other crap.

The gameplay is still very entertaining but I am highly disappointed on the cats being virtually useless, I am a cat lover myself and I would have loved some cat contests but sadly there are none...

Overall, if you are a fan of the original you might be dissapointed with the lack of things new, however, the gameplay is still entertaining and fun so it should be good enough for you.

This was actually a pretty darn good review Jimmeh, I was surprised to see you randomly post this out of the blue. Though I don't have the 3DS yet and was never interested in the original Nintendogs.

Well I've got 99 problems and this is 389 of them
Woah, woah, woah, Jimmeh's back, too?! Where did you run off to? It's good to have you back, Jimbster!

*ahem* On topic, nice review, I've never played the original Nintendogs games myself, but I did appreciate d'awwing at my friends' puppies. Wookatdatfaic.

You mean cats actually do stuff?
To the game's credit, I haven't seen many leashed cats going along on a nice Sunday stroll. I haven't seen many trained cats or cat shows, either, for that matter. But I do see your point: it would be nice if the game gave you some sort of satisfaction for being a cat owner. Maybe they could have added... I dunno, sleeping contests?
