Nara Shikagari (奈良鹿狩, lit. Nara Deer Hunter) was born into the esteemed Nara clan of Konohagakure. Upon his birth it was said several herds of deer within the Nara clan forest succumbed to a strange illness which lead to their death. This event became the origin of the name Shikagari, the Deer Hunter. Although he had never hunted deer's this was to be his name and he would be treated no differently to any clan member before or after him. For some reason he had always considered himself the black sheep of the clan and although he was not treated differently, he felt different to his kinsmen. One day whilst playing around within the Nara clan forest Shikagari stumbled upon what would be a new beginning.

13/11/13: The Boy Without A Shadow"I was told a story today. During my birth many of the deer within our forest became ill and eventually died, hence my name; Shikagari. Although I come home to warm food and smiling faces I feel there is something missing, something that is not meant to be. I've come to the conclusion that the illness that spread across herds of deer during my birth was no mere coincidence and I intend to find that which is responsible. After scouting out the forest I found an area without a single deer or animal print, it seemed grey and almost lifeless. A few deer followed me to the area and did nothing but leer at me, as though warning me to go any further. But I could feel the call of what was waiting within the grey forest. With one step forward I felt a weight heavier than anything I have ever felt before, I tried to step back, but it was too late. As though I had lost control of my body I began to step ever further into the grey forest until I fell down a hole which had been covered with lifeless leaves. Everything was dark, not even the light from the hole could reach where I had fallen. That is all I remember."
Three days pass after his fall into the grey forest.
"My father was trying to teach me the Shadow Imitation Technique a few hours ago. I memorised the hand seals perfectly, yet I couldn't execute it. He believed it to be experience issues and told me I would eventually get the hang of it, but no matter how hard I tried to perform it I could feel nothing. Not even the flow of chakra. It was as though something was preventing me from performing that specific technique, I had no trouble with other techniques so why this one?
A week passes and Shikagari is unable to perform the Shadow Imitation Technique.
"The family is starting to become concerned with my lack of progress in regards to the Shadow Imitation Technique. Every day for several hours I have tried to learn it, tried to use it, but to no avail. I know the truth, but they do not. I have tried to ask them about a part of the forest with grey trees, but receive negative replies, no one seems to know of it. I had thought about showing it to them, but they would not understand. Instead I travelled there alone, to seek answers as to why I could not perform my clan's techniques. It was even creepier than last time, every deer I saw fled from me and none had followed me to the grey forest. When I stepped into the forest this time I felt nothing, nothing trying to force me and no weight as there was before. I jumped down the hole to enter the darkness that had surrounded me several days ago. I felt .. welcomed, almost. As though I was entering the house for dinner. I spoke to the darkness that surrounded me and to no surprise, it spoke back."
A few years later Shikagari passes the academy and becomes a genin ranked shinobi.
[☐] 19/11/13:"I heard a whisper, a whisper that only the Living Shadow could translate. For this whisper was one that could only be heard by those entrenched in darkness. In translating the whisper to me I followed its source and found myself at the edge of Konohagakure near a running river. It was there I found the lost soul. An Uchiha who had recently lost his sister, not to death but to uncertainty. Surprisingly he sensed that I was nearby and although he could not find my exact location it was enough to know that I was dealing with somebody who knew I was there purely through instinct. We spoke and in doing so I found out that he wanted to exact revenge on the squad that left his sister, to leave the village he once called home. I could have talked him out of it but the moment he turned to face me I saw his eyes. Within them was a hatred that cursed the very darkness itself. I did not know what this would entail but I was intrigued nonetheless. I agreed to aid him if he were to pursue his assault on his sister's squad mates."
Nara Shikagari and the Uchiha set out and slaughtered the members of his sister's squad.
"The deed was done, we had finished off the members of his sister's squad, but would this cure the ache in the Uchiha's heart? I knew it would not, but I sought an answer from him nevertheless. He claimed to be satisfied for now and that for following through with this act of his I would be dubbed his blood brother. He would leave Konohagakure that day in the Flak Jacket of his fallen comrade—a momentum I assumed—and we fled to Konohagakure's Outskirts before agreeing to meet one another soon."
Shikagari (鹿狩) can be translated as "Deer Hunter".
