![]() FINALE-- [ primary characters, in alphabetical order ] // Aurelio Tahva [occupation unknown, male human, Hapes] // Gadell Vessau [future possible consort to the Queen Mother, male human, Hapes] // Kirie Trisst [dancer, female human, Hapes] [ secondary characters ] // Erianh Ryiath Vessau [Commander of the Hapan Naval Fleet, female human, Hapes] // Prince Isolder [Prince, male human, Hapes] // Ta'a Chume [former Queen Mother, female human, Hapes] // Tenel Ka [the Princess, female human, Hapes] // Teneniel Djo [Queen Mother, female human, Dathomir] NOTE: this story takes place on Hapes, full of a bunch of Hapans -- during, near the end of and a little after the war with the Yuuzhan Vong. It can act as a prequel to the story Simply Being Loved. This is the story of Gadell Vessau. ____________________________________________________ ...PROLOGUE. The square was beautiful this time of day. It was the time where the seven moons decided to creep out from behind the clouds, chasing the bright sun over the horizon. When the breezes would start, slipping past buildings and through alleyways, flicking ripples into the water of the fountain he was usually perched on. Tucking his chin into the thick scarf he had wrapped around his shoulders, Gadell Vessau's eyes narrowed as he absently stared out of the common square and up to the stone spires of the Fountain Palace. He pictured his mother in there somewhere, commanding whole armies, quietly speaking and planning with one of her best friends the Queen Mother, Teneniel Djo. Gadell himself, he had only been in the main sections of the Palace a few times before -- for banquets, social events his mother attended. He usually stuck to the staff housing around the perimeter, where he and his mother lived alone, in one of the main houses... or the square. Places where he could watch the Palace from afar. It looked so overwhelming, so much larger than anything he could ever imagine. How could anyone live in there and not get lost? How could you be in the same building with so many people and remember all of their names, remember how to greet them each day? He shook his head, snapping out of one of the trances he usually found himself in while letting his eyes trail up to the towers of the Palace. Turning his attention back to the square, he squinted against the breeze and the halolamps that began to light themselves, after sensing the approaching dusk. Where is he? Gadell scowled. He was late as always. Supposedly there was word that something had happened out near Belkadan -- Helska 4. Something big. It was the main reason his mother had told him to go to the square and get dinner for himself that night. Aurelio would know. He knew everything it seemed -- usually it was stuff Gadell really didn't want to hear either, stuff he never cared about. "Hey!" Craning his neck back, his lips brushing against the scarf, Gadell saw Aurelio approaching from the east side of the square, jogging awkwardly towards the fountain, where Gadell sat on the edge, his legs crossed. "I came as soon as you commed." Letting his voice take on a monotone drawl, Gadell's Hapan accent burned each syllable. "I don't remember it taking an hour-and-a-half for you to get here from your house before." "Hey now, Gadell." Throwing his hands in front of him, Aurelio shook both pointer fingers in his face. "Mom made me finish my dinner first and clean myself up. She always says shavit like," He put on his best impression of his mother, a sudden grimace crossing his face, "'Now Aurelio, if you're ever gonna make a good impression on the royal family, you better go out looking your best.' She thinks the Princess is gonna see me and fall in love or something." Gadell couldn't help but cackle and point, slapping his knee. The scarf slipped a bit from his shoulder and his face, revealing a loose black jumpsuit and a pale visage, a wide grin smacked across it. "You?" His voice was louder now, not muffled by the fabric. "The Prince to the Royal Hapan's Princess? You're mother's a comedian." "I know." Aurelio sat himself down beside Gadell and jammed a finger out towards the square, where people were still milling about, finishing up their daily jobs. "I always ask her if she knows just how many noblemen live in this town. And she always claims it shouldn't matter because I'm the noblest of them all." Wide ocean-colored eyes locked on Aurelio, another whoop of laughter erupting from the owner of them. Aurelio just smiled and nodded, chuckling at his own mother's silly thoughts. In all twenty-one years of Aurelio's life... he had always known his mother to be like that, always looking up, keeping her chin high. Sometimes a little too high for her own good. Slapping Gadell in the side, Aurelio's expression suddenly fell when he remembered why his companion called him here. "I know what's going on." The laughing seized and Gadell shifted sideways, dropping a foot to the ground and setting his other leg up on the edge of the stone fountain. He looked intently to his friend, like he was a parent or a teacher about to relay some wonderful old story, not like he was his best friend, only two years his senior about to gossip about the fate of the galaxy. "I hear a war is starting." He had never Aurelio's voice that serious before, that low, that thick, that... that... "Serious?" Was all Gadell could mutter. All he got in return was a nod. And for the first time in his life since his father died, Gadell felt vulnerable. ____________________________________________________ Yes, I got ideas upon ideas upon ideas and I finally had to start it. And by the by, banner up above is Kirie, Gadell, Aurelio in the mainframe and Erianh, Ta'a Chume, Tenel Ka in the secondary frames. Because I was bored. And because they all have a reason to be there. ....*cackles* Gadell was eating my brains.

When Gadell said "I don't remember comming you an hour-and-a-half ago" it looks like maybe the "don't" shouldn't be there... like he remembers comming so long ago and A.'s just now getting there.) <333 |
