Wedge turned his head at the interruption. He stared down at the blonde woman, Lea, and listened to her carefully. He held her gaze with his stare long after she finished talking. Periphially, he saw a darker haired pilot that he did not know move away from the blonde woman quickly, causing another, taller, blonde male pilot to spill his drink on his shirt. He heard the pilot groan and Wedge checked a smile that wanted to make it's way to his face. General Antilles brought his full attention back to Lea. He let his brown gaze bore into her green eyes. "This is definitely one to watch," He thought to himself. "Still this could be amusing...." "Flight Officer Ryze. Front and center. Attention!" Wedge barked in his command voice. "Colonel Janson. You too. Front and center." The General looked back over at Lara. "Please excuse the interruption. We'll continue this momentarily." |

Lea stared right back into Antilles' brown eyes, the smirk persisting. It stayed that way until the words "front and center" penetrated her mind. Then, immediately she jumped in place, brushing a couple of stray locks of hair out of her face and standing up as straight as possible. Her hand raised in a brief salute, and she looked away from General Antilles for all of a moment, enough time to jab Jay in the ribs. If she had to stand at attention, well, she wasn't going to be the only one. And yes, Janson didn't count. |

"Ow!" Jay groaned, rubbing at his ribs. He was supposed to be far enough away from Lea to prevent anything like this happening. Looked like luck, or the Force, or whatever the kriff people relied on just wasn't with him tonight. He frowned, glaring at Lea, but then turned his focus back to the General. "Sir?" |

Hobbie may, perhaps, have been tipsy, but that didn't stop him being smart enough to know when to escape. Even if he was a little slow. Leaning towards Wes, he said, "I'll see y'later," and tried not to grin at the others. He finished off his glass and put it down. He waved at Wedge, then started for the door. Undoubtedly, he'd get a lot of snark later, but hey -- this looked like something for the kids. And Wes. Who sort of fit into that category anyway. |

Wes jumped at the tone of Wedge's (front and center) voice and did what he was told, barely thinking about it. Until about halfway through his salute, which he finished, but slowly. And with a quick glare at Hobbie as he left. "Uh, Wedge--" Pause. "--sir, what?" Another pause. "Oh yeah, and don't listen to anything Lea says." |

Lea watched from the corner of her eye as Hobbie made his escape away from General Antilles and the rest of the crowd. Hmm, perhaps this one wasn't as slow as she originally thought. It was a brilliant idea. After all, there was no reason for her to stand here at attention, right? Cause whatever it was that General Antilles wanted, well, it was all Wes' fault anyway. Smiling sweetly at Wedge, Lea nodded towards the door. "Sir? Just realized Hobs owes me some money. We'll be back soon." At Jay's perpelexed look, she reached out to tug on his sleeve. "Come on Beerspot." |

Jay shifted nervously, eyeing his girlfriend. "But Lea!" She shook her head, a clear signal that there would be no arguments. Sighing, Jay reluctantly said his goodbye and followed Lea out of the door. As long as it didn't involve any more closets, he supposed he would be okay with whatever she had planned now. |

Sharr decided to give up trying to dry himself off. He was just going to have to settle for being covered with alcohol. How annoying. Looking around, he realized that several of the other pilots had made sudden and very sneaky escapes. Deciding this was probably a good course of action, he threw a casual salute in Face's direction. "Permission to depart, sir?" He asked cheerfully. |

Face eyed Sharr questioningly, wondering how he had managed to spill his drink on himself, then decided it was better not to ask. "Permission granted, lieutenant." He said in mock formality. "As a matter of fact, I think I may join you. This party seems to be dieing down too much for my taste." Throwing a light wave at the remaining pilots, Face turned and followed Sharr out. "Sharr, stop skipping! You're going to knock someone over and kill yourself." He called after his squadron member. |

Wedge's measuring brown gaze betrayed none of his thoughts as he watched the young blonde woman. "This woman is gusty. Maybe not so smart for walking out on a commanding officer, but gutsy." Wedge thought to himself. He waited until Lea and her darker haired male friend just got to the door. "Oh, Ms. Ryze? Report for kitchen patrol at Oh Four Hundred tomorrow." Wedge followed with a wolfish grin. He turned his attention toward Wes. He gave him a crisp stare. "You've had your hands full haven't you? It's not so fun being me, is it?" His stare relented and melted into a friendly grin. "C'mon Janson, let's go get some Whyren's." The General lowered his voice where only Wes could hear. "We can decide how best to proceed with Flight Officer Ryze." |

The fleeing pilots aren't exactly inconspicuous, and Ria never liked getting left. Her eyes dart down to her holo-watch, widening. "Oh kriff! I left a ryshcate in the oven!" And she runs off without a backward glance. She's a good liar, yep. |

Wes watched the others all leave, mildly alarmed ... but mostly amused. Especially at the promise of kitchen duty for Lea. But he tried not to laugh as he turned back to Wedge. "Yeah," Wes agreed with a lopsided grin, "that sure sounds good to me." The Whyren's part and the plotting against Lea part. "Next time someone ever asks me to lead a squadron," he added, "you have to be there and tell me to say no." |

The general reached out and put hand on Wes's shoulder. "Come on Wes, let's go get that drink." Wedge and Wes started moving toward the door when Wedge remembered the other pilots still in the room. He turned around and spoke. "Major Forge, we'll formalize that tranfer into the Rogue tomorrow. Ms. Notsil, stop by my office in the morning. We do need to talk." Wedge looked his long-time friend in the eye. "We'll have an organizational meeting for all the sqadrons tomorrow afternoon." His brown eyes shone with amusement. "For now lets go tend to our Ryze problem. I know somewhere deep down that ancient mind of yours there must still be a few good pranks left." Wedge laughed as he and Wes walked through the door. |
