Is anyone as disturbed as I am by the announcement that the Revolution is really going to be called the Wii?

http://revolution.ign.com/articles/703/703502p1.html

It just doesn't sound like it'll make as big of an impact anymore. The Revolution sounded like it was going to be absolutly incredible and change everything and now it just sounds... wee.

I read that's how it's pronounced. Am I the only one slightly disturbed by that? They say it's because the "we" is supposed to be the gaming community or something.

That has got to be the most retarded thing that Nintendo has ever done.

That sucks so many balls.

Further reading shows me that the two I's are supposed to represent the controller as well. Which is also a little weird.

Doesn't mean I won't get the thing, but yeah. Heh. I'll just continue calling it the Revolution for my own sake.

Yeah, and it feels slightly disturbing if you say Wii too much in one conversation. I think that whatever crack the team was on that made this is the first kind of crack I don't want some of... o_<

The name is, I think, entirely redeemed by Super Smash Brothers Brawl.

Guh.

I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.

BUT SNAKE INNA BOX WATCHING NINTENDO CHARACTERS FIGHT.

I don't have the patience to properly appreciate any of the MSG games, but I will totally use Snake to beat Mario's ass.

YES PLZ.

I retract my sniggering at Nintendo's namechoice-- they are completely owning E3 as of right now. <3 Twilight Princess!

I gotta agree here. Pre-E3, I was really down on all three of the major players in the market:

Mystified by Microsoft's awful XBOX360 launch.
Confused by Nintendo's bizarre decisions.
Appalled by Sony's arrogance.

But, Nintendo really came through during E3. They actually showed things that I might be willing to drop money on, which is something I never thought would happen again. I figured that the Age of Video Games had more or less passed me by, since I enjoy only a very minor percentage of things that they release these days.

Gameplay seems to be going away in favor of epic, interactive movies, which is very disappointing to me. As a result, I like that Nintendo seems to be bringing games back to where they were about 10 years ago, allowing us to download all our favorite old school games, and by focusing on innovative gameplay.

But, before I ramble too long... Nintendo seemed to really turned the tide in their favor during E3.

Good for them.
