DUDES! It's official! The LA Times has confirmed that Deathly Hallows will be split into two films AND will be directed by OOTP and HBP director David Yates. From mugglenet.com

This seems kind of like overkill to me. The one story I read said that it was because "they simply couldn't leave anything out" for the story to make sense (or some such jank). Because... you know... the pages upon pages upon pages of exciting descriptions of Harry, Ron, and Hermione sitting alone in a tent being emo is going to make for AMAZING popcorn stuffing moments in the theater. Oy. Anyway, still an enjoyable book, but good lord, is there a lot of sitting around being angsty. |

I am the literary equivalent of a Big Mac and fries.

I have to agree with you. There was a lot of sitting around and being angsty, but then again he wouldn't be Harry if there wasn't. I don't know how I feel about David Yates. Order Of The Phoenix was great, but it moved so quickly that it left you no time to emotionally register any of the big moments. I know it was a big book and they were trying to cram it all, but still. Maybe thats what they were trying to avoid by turning Deathly Hallows into two films. |

Yeah, my eyes kinda glazed over during the seemingly endless camping scenes. But I enjoyed the majority of the book otherwise. |

Could be, but they managed to smash (most) [uh... some?] of Goblet of Fire into a rather entertaining film that didn't feel rushed. (I need to watch it again to confirm that.) For whatever reason, I always felt that the film version of Chamber of Secrets went ridiculously fast, to the point where I'm not sure if I could have followed the whole thing if I hadn't read the book prior. I was sitting there in the theater and shit was whizzing by so damn fast my head was spinning. O_O But, yeah... of the lot, it seems to me that 3 and 4 made the best translation to film. (I haven't seen 1 in eons.) |
