Ok, so this was an idea I had and I got the go from our fearless leader to run this so I'm going to! (Fasten your seat belts!) I was hoping we could get it organized in time to start in January with the new year and all but first we have to figure out how its going to work and for that I need you! Basically my scheme was that everyone who wants to be involved chooses a book and then we put them all in a hat and draw them to decide what order everything is read in. We can all discuss general bs about it and the person who nominated it could maybe come up with a few general discussion questions like "Do you think Jacen Solo's descent to the dark side is a metaphore for contemporary American politics? Discuss." (They don't have to be that deep. I just wanted to sound pretentious.) So basically I want to know if you guys have ideas for how to improve this or change it up to make it awesome! Also, we need to decide how much time we give each book. Like, a month seems like it would make sense but everyone is busy and stuff comes up plus people need time to get the books from the library or the store or paperbackswap.com or whatever so maybe we need more time. A month and a half? Two months? Something else? Have at it! Edit: I went on random.org and put in what we have so far to create a schedule! Book Schedule January Prey by Michael Crichton Febuary Rhapsody by Elizabeth Haydon March Sphere by Michael Crichton April The Long Walk by Stephen King May Nightlife by Rob Thurman Edited by Lusa, Dec 30 2008, 04:45 PM.

That sounds good, to just put a bunch of books in a hat. And a month is good for me, but if most of you need more time, I'm good for that, too. As for some ideas: do you want ideas of books we have already read and liked, or maybe a book we haven't read but are planning to? I mean, do you want the discusser to have previously read the discussed book? If that makes sense. |

Yeah I was thinking it might work if everyone who wants to participate throws in a book they have already read and enjoyed. That way everyone gets to share their fandoms and we're not just randomly picking stuff, you know? |

Yep, makes sense. Just anything, or shall we try to pick something that would be interesting to discuss, and not just any book we liked reading? For now, I think I'll nominate Prey and Sphere by Michael Crichton. (Hope not too many of you have seen the film version of the latter). It's hard to choose, since so many of my current faves are part of series, lol. |

LOL THE LONG WALK BY STEPHEN KING. I don't know how often I will be able to participate since it takes me forever to read books, but if stuff comes up that I've read then I WILL DEFINITELY HELP DISCUSS LOL. |

Ok I went and randomized the list of what he have so far, which isn't much and am putting it in the first post on this thread. Hopefully more people will be interested but anyways this is the order so far! |

Yes we shall! Do you guys think it would work better to have the month like dedicated to reading and then the second month we would be reading the next book but also discussing book number one, or just have the entire month dedicated to a sort of running commentary of where we are/what's going on, etc? |
