While gladia's sorting stuff out with new enemies, I'm going to try making the first room of Cruise Control. I'm looking for backgrounds and tilesets of a guest cabin... |

Pardon me for the double post! I think I should share with you my music choices for my levels. The London part of London-Paris Excursion will have its original BGM, but the buck stops right there. Here are my music choices for: London-Paris Excursion - Riding the Barge [utube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0YkamwA5X8[/utube] London-Paris Excursion - Paris [utube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mV4IEyOzJ94[/utube] Cruise Control - Before Boss Fight [utube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnV6CKONQW8[/utube] Cruise Control - After Boss Fight [utube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YzcFNjaRWKM[/utube] Moscow Malady - Streets [utube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEMau8V2c4U[/utube] Moscow Malady - Metro and Kremlin [utube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-F-c3cmLgqk[/utube] What do you think? The Okhotsk Fight Theme is also listed in my MKF soundtrack as "mp3_battalion" (the part in Scandinavian Campaign where you have to rush to the hangar). Sorry for the triple post, but I have an announcement to make! Riverroad PM'd me just now, says he wants to have a go at making one of my levels. Since I can't think of a good plot for Transiberian Trek, I'm giving development of it to him. I'm still waiting for more tilesets before I can do more work... |

Good luck with Transiberian Trek I hope it's all actiony and awesome. As for Cruise Control, it's supposed to be an important level in the plot and some things would need to be very specific or change, you have to talk with Mew or Lars about all the details for its design and resources and things it's supposed to have before starting to do anything with it, we don't want you to work in vain. Gladia: those Pang balls look fantastic. Edited by Del, Aug 25 2010, 05:33 PM.

After nearly a month-long hiatus, I finally managed to get round to doing my stuff again! The first room of Cruise Control is complete! Still have to implement a message box... ![]() UPDATE: The first room has been redesigned and a message box has been added. Wario: Master of Disguise tilesets courtesy of AuraLancer...

I have an idea on the level. Inspired by the PS1 Beat em Up, Crisis Beat. I was thinking that the cruiser would contain areas such as: A shopping area (including a nifty replica of the cruiser) A central garden area (seriously) A ball/party room engine room (duh) bridge and so on... what do you think? |

That was my original idea, but since I consulted Mew about what goes on in the level, these areas aren't necessary. Besides, I'm only going to stick to the Wario: Master of Disguise tileset that AuraLancer sent me... Can anyone tell me how to resize certain tilesets? |

What do you mean by resize? And it was Judgespear that ripped those tiles - apparently it was quite difficult, so give him the credit. |

Making them smaller - when I did the first room in London-Paris Excursion and released a screenshot, many people have complained that the buildings in the background are too big. It was gladia who ripped them... |

Sorry, I was referring to the Wario tiles. There's really no good way to resize tiles. You can resize the whole picture, but you shouldn't do it beyond 75%. You'll also need to adjust them to the tileset grid afterwards. |

Well, the best way to resize tiles is really the best way to resize anything: dilate it using rotsprite, then have someone trustworthy edit it so it looks good. There isn't really a good way of getting around the extra work here. Alternative: Use different tiles. |

The first room of London-Paris Excursion is almost complete! All I need are new enemies! gladia coded the Pang balls a while ago, but I have two more enemies in mind...![]() ![]() I was thinking of adding the double-decker bus at the end of the first room, and have these elite Rebels come out of it. My idea is to destroy the bus while coming under attack from these soldiers, as well as Pang balls. Can anyone edit the bus' sprite so that the Katakana text is replaced with English text? And I'm also after German death screams from Call of Duty 2 (for the elite Rebel soldiers). |

I've released two more screenshots as proof that progress on London-Paris Excursion has been made:![]() ![]() I've been redesigning my levels since the newest Dev Source came out, not that I've done much of them. Here are some changes since last time: * Buildings have been made a little bit smaller for the London section. * Rebel riflemen now have the sound of a Karabiner 98k (standard issue German rifle in WWII) when they fire their shots instead of a Halo shotgun. Why a K98? Because according to Metal Slug's Wiki, their rifles are actually K98 rifles! * Brian's palace guard Goomba skin has been implemented. * Turbo's reloadable WWII weapons seen in Sahara Scramble now have different fire and reload sounds. gladia, if you're not too busy, can you please help me a little bit? I'm looking for more tilesets and I also want a status update on the Pang balls... |

GFC, I decided that I will help you with London-Paris Excursion. For the moment, continue your level design. As soon as I finish my last level in progress, I'll see what I can do. For the record: I have failed to Pang Balls' coding. -_-; Will I get help from someone. |

Even more bad news! Mew PM'd me, said he has denied me the right to create Cruise Control. Screw this! The ship interior tileset was confusing anyway! This just leaves me with Moscow Malady. Can someone please find me appropriate tilesets, or at least point me in the right direction to finding them myself? I'm also looking for plot details, since it's listed as a plot-important level in the game. Mew, however, has decided to leave the first room unchanged, so at least I have some credit for it. |

Screw what Mew says. You are the one working on the level. Therefore, you should build it the way you want. Some devs need to learn to wait until something is done before they pass judgment. Once it is done, then they can modify it to fit in MKF. |

No dev on the forum has the right to tell someone to cease working on a level. Now, the rendition you make may or may not be accepted, but no one on the MKFR can forbid you from attempting it. That's a big no-no. although there are exceptions to this, like if the stage is reserved or something, but that shouldn't happen this far into stage development Edited by Cap'n Coconuts, Jan 12 2011, 12:52 PM.

In all fairness though, your Cruise Control design is really terrible. Spoiler: click to toggle I mean, look at it! To put it simply: it's large, flat, empty, and boring. The greatest weakness is that you have all this space in your level, and you aren't using it for anything. You make these boring, rectangular rooms, with no terrain or objects or design that makes it feel interested to look at, let alone play in. Let me give an example: a level designer from before the forum change, ancara, tried to make levels, and ended up doing the opposite thing as you: he tried to make designs, but his designs were extremely cramped, and never really gave enough space at times, or sometimes, it was just too much space. He had something, but it wasn't good enough in the end, and he didn't really use space to his advantage, and ended up getting cramped levels. Here, you give yourself SO MUCH SPACE, yet there's nothing. Empty rectangular corridors with nothing in them. No enemies, no blocks, no obstacles, and the only sort of real obstacle is the presumably autoscrolling room at the end, which doesn't fit the interior of a cruise ship at all. The outside, maybe, but certainly not the inside. And even then, the section looks really too simple, like you could have tried out something with the tileset to make it look more appropriate, maybe made the jumps tricker, or maybe put in some obstacles instead! Like, you could have done so much with the level, but you really have done nothing but construct a series of empty and boring rooms, topped off with an unfitting autoscrolling section. Get back to the drawing board and try again. |
