That is another problem. Your forcing regiments on a game that your constantly paying for. Thats like your ISP (Internet Service Provider) saying that you can only be online for 10 hours a week (and I use the internet a helluva lot longer than 10 hours a week) while still having to pay the monthly fee. IT JUST AINT RIGHT, MAN! |

I'm really hoping Squeenix will change their mind somewhere down the road. A fatigue system can work. A fatigue system that restricts you for that long does not. They need to put serious thought into this. Appeal to light gamers they might, but implementing a draconian measure is unfair for everyone else. Although this reminds me of Vista's beta and how it would essentially nuke your ability to use the PC without an Internet connection---a measure which users lashed out against, and was used to rally Linux support. This is the same exact situation. Microsoft changed this to be as lenient as its not-so-compatibility-challenged ancestor; Squeenix should change their methods too, or change it into a bonus instead of a penalty. I dunno about you, but getting triple EXP for eight hours if you're absent for a week sounds like a great way to help them catch up to the heavier ones. Edited by RisingManes, Aug 26 2010, 07:49 PM.

I'm not sure how many of us have tried World of Warcraft, but they use a similar system. Basically, in the time you spend logged off your character slowly accumulates Rest or something like that, which basically doubles your experience points for a certain distance on your EXP Bar (Which can go through multiple bars, IIRC). Your character accumulates additional Rest by logging off in the confines of an Inn. I'd like to say this is a great system, but WoW is the game people are staying addicted to...Well, one could go with this argument: Tetris didn't have anything to discourage you from playing obsessively. That's exactly the kind of complaints I hear people make about Huges Net. |

Wait. You're a beta tester? ![]() Is there a way you can input comments for Squeenix to read? Because I think having the fatigue system grant bonuses for full fatigue instead of penalties for depleted penalties qualifies as reasonable feedback. |

Manes, I highly doubt they listen to the request of a beta tester. |

While they have a crapton of money, they don't want to lose more with this venture. Their FFXIII flopped; now stores are trying to get rid of their excess stock, as you saw in that other Sankaku article. And their little rumor hurt the game's chances of good reception. Money doesn't grow on trees for them, you know. And they need to keep their players happy. Sega failed to garner trust from potential buyers, what with their crappy billing servers. Now look at what happened to their PC servers. Square's good name can only do so much for them. That said, I agree with you. Doesn't mean they won't, though. |

FF13 didn't flop, it made tons of money, and mostly good reviews. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_XIII#Reception Im pretty sure the article you saw was about japan. Ive said this once, i'll say it again. People will buy Final Fantasy regardless. Not to mention they don't need FF14 to sell as much as they do the other games because the monthly fees. |

Wow... this is such a terrible idea... Are they TRYING to stop people from playing this game? This will basically deter anyone coming fresh off of World of Warcraft. There are over 11 million subscribers to World of Warcraft...
It's similar, but it doesn't penalize you like Final Fantasy XIV will. You get 200% experience for every kill if your character is well rested, this could be because you have been logged off or your character is at an inn for a certain amount of time... Once you've reached the point where you are no longer well rested, you'll get 100% experience for every kill. You're never penalized for playing too long, you're rewarded for taking a break. Final Fantasy XIV seems to be doing the opposite. You'll be penalized for playing too long... and not rewarded in any way for playing for the amount of time they want you to. Pertaining to Final Fantasy XIII
I never played my copy yet... I didn't even open it yet. Now I won't... ever. It's gonna stay in its wrapping til the end of days (I like establishing a Video Game collection and I don't particularly like selling my games to gamestop and feeling cheated at how they buy it from you for so little, and sell it for so much). edit - crap, sorry I thought I was editing my post, not posting a reply... More off-hand anecdotes from beta testers that my friend knows!
Since efficient gameplay involves changing into a White Mage class and back, this doesn't seem to hurt self-sufficient soloers, at least. Also worth noting: soloing is possible in this game, as it was in FFXI. Edited by RisingManes, Aug 28 2010, 11:38 PM.
